We welcome you to our guide on How To Reduce Blur in Planet Coaster 2 in a specific and detailed way.

The sequel to Frontier Developments' management simulation game Planet Coaster, Planet Coaster 2 improves upon the first in many ways. Although the PC version is feature-rich and generally operates well, a handful of graphic flaws, particularly those pertaining to visibility, can be quite off-putting. Get a crisper picture in Planet Coaster 2 by following these steps to lessen blurring.

Planet Coaster 2: How To Reduce Blur

Planet Coaster 2's graphics are affected by a number of post-processing parameters that are enabled by default. The in-game resolution can also be off when you first start the game. If you want a much clearer picture with far less blur, follow our advice.

Verify the Resolution of Your Game

A number of players have mentioned that, at launch, Planet Coaster 2 uses a far lower resolution than what is actually your desktop setting. The result can be an image that is fuzzy and pixelated. Verify that the appropriate resolution is chosen in the Display Settings menu if you haven't already.

Once you've chosen the right resolution, the game should display correctly.

Turn Off Depth of Field and Motion Blur

Planet Coaster 2's shaky, hazy visual is a result of the game's default settings, which include depth of field and motion blur. Fortunately, you can disable both of them in-game.

  • Find the very bottom of the Display Settings menu.
  • In the Post Processing menu, you should see the options for "Depth of Field" and "Motion Blur."
  • Turn them both off.

Neither of them should have such a significant influence, even though an aggressive implementation would be preferable. Because contextual motion blur has its uses, we're hoping that in a future update, developers will include intensity sliders to make it more tolerable.

Fix Chromatic Aberration

There is no in-game option to disable chromatic aberration, unlike motion blur and depth of field. The effect is enabled at the engine level, but fortunately, it can be disabled by editing the configuration file. This will greatly enhance the image quality and eliminate the blurring and distortion that it causes.

The first step is to go to this spot:

  • The users directoryUsername for WindowsAdvancements in App Data Local FrontierSetup_Local for Planet Coaster 2
  • To begin, launch Notepad or Notepad++ and navigate to the Graphics.config.xml file.
  • Find the following number. To find the exact location in the file, you can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + F.
  • If you replace the value of 1 with 0, the result should be:
  • Select "Save As" (Ctrl + S) and then close the file.

Give It a Go Besides TAA

Various AA upscaling techniques, such as FXAA, TAA, Upscaled TAA, FSR 3, and NVIDIA DLSS, are compatible with Planet Coaster 2. If you're playing at a higher resolution, DLSS is your best bet for optimal image reconstruction.

If you're using 1080p, though, the picture quality of games other than TAA should be slightly better. We suggest FSR3 or Upscaled TAA instead of standard TAA because FXAA does not have good anti-aliasing.

At higher resolutions, TAA shouldn't appear too horrible, but for the optimal image quality, we recommend combining DLSS with DLDSR if you have an NVIDIA RTX GPU.

In conclusion, knowing How To Reduce Blur in Planet Coaster 2 is interesting because it allows us to develop and have more fun in this busy game.
