The Voyagers update for No Man's Sky represents a monumental leap in the game's long history, introducing a feature players have dreamed of for years: fully customizable, walkable, and crewable starships. The new Corvette-class starships are not just vessels for travel; they are mobile bases that offer a new level of immersion and social play. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about building, customizing, and commanding your very own Corvette.

No Man's Sky: How to Build a Corvette

Part 1: How to Build Your First Corvette

To get started on your starship construction journey, you must first visit a Corvette Workshop. These are a new addition to every Space Station in the game.

1. Locate the Corvette Workshop

Upon landing in any Space Station, exit your starship and look to the left. You will see a set of four blue teleporters. Enter any of these teleporters to be taken to a new area specifically designed for Corvette construction.

2. Purchase Basic Modules

At the Corvette Workshop, the first thing you need to do is acquire the necessary parts. Interact with the terminal and select the "Purchase basic modules" option. These core components are the foundation of your starship.
  • Cost: To purchase all the basic modules, you will need a substantial amount of Units, typically over 10,000,000 Units.
  • Inventory: Make sure you have enough space in your Exosuit, as the modules will take up a total of 16 inventory slots.

3. Begin Construction

Once you have the modules, it's time to build. Interact with the terminal again and select "Create new Corvette." A hologram of your ship will appear. Press the designated key (e.g., "Toggle Module Menu" on PC) to bring up your list of available components.

Core Module Placement

The order in which you place your modules is crucial. You must start with the foundation and then build outwards.

  • Landing Gear: This is the first piece you must place. Its blueprint will appeargreen, indicating that it can be placed anywhere on the constructiongrid.
  • Habitation Module: The main living space of your ship, this module must be connected directly to the Landing Gear.
  • Cockpit: This module attaches to the front of the Habitation Module.
  • Reactor: The heart of your ship, the Reactor can be placed underneath, on top, or on the sides of the main Habitation Module.
  • Thrusters: You will need to place two Thrusters, one on each side of the ship.
  • Access Module (Landing Bay): This module attaches to the back of the Habitation Module and is essential for entering and exiting your ship.
  • Weapon System (e.g., Photo Cannon Array): These modules can be placed on the sides, top, or underneath your ship.

Once these core systems are in place, you can finalize your design. The game will give you the option to either swap your existing ship for the new Corvette or add it to your collection.

Part 2: Modifying and Upgrading Your Corvette

After building your first Corvette, the real fun begins. You can return tothe Corvette Workshop at any time to add new modules and makemodifications.

  • Modify an Existing Ship: Select "Modify [Name of Ship]" at the Corvette Workshop.

Advanced Modules

The following modules can be added to the core structure to improve your ship's performance and appearance:

  • Main Engine (Pyrodrive Booster): This attaches to the back of the Reactor.
  • Flight Stabilizers (Arcadia S-Foil): These wings can be placed on the sides of the Habitation Module or other connected modules.
  • External Plating (Argonaut Cowling): These armor plates can be placed in front of modules like the Thrusters to protect them.
  • Ducting Outlet: This decorative piece can be placed on the sides, top, or bottom of most modules.

Finding New Parts: Salvageable Scrap

To acquire new and more advanced modules, you must find and salvage them from planets. Look for planets marked with a "Salvageable Scrap" icon when you scan them from space.

  • Locate Scrap: Land on one of these planets and use your analysis visor. Salvageable Scrap has a Wi-Fi-like symbol in a yellow shield.
  • Excavate: Use your Terrain Manipulator to excavate the scrap. You will find a casing that needs to bedestroyed with your Multi-Tool's laser. After destroying all of thecasings, you can break the Salvage Container to loot new Corvettemodules.

Trading Modules: At the Corvette Workshop, you can trade the modules you find. Select the "Trade Advanced Modules" option, and you can offer up to three of your own modules to acquire new ones.

Part 3: New Mechanics: Beyond the Cockpit

The Voyagers update introduces groundbreaking new ways to interact with your ship and the game world.

Spacewalks

Unlike other ships, you can exit the pilot's seat while in flight. Press thedesignated key to bring up the ship options, and select "Leave Pilot Seat." You can then walk around the interior of your ship. To go on aspacewalk, walk to the back of the Corvette and operate the hatch. It is highly recommended to have a fully upgraded jetpack before attempting a spacewalk.

Interior Decoration

While walking around your Corvette, you can enter build mode at any time, even in space. This allows you to decorate the interior with a widevariety of base parts, including Portable Refiners, Construction Research Units, and storage expansions.

Beam Down to Planets

When hovering above a planet, you can use the new teleporter located at theback of your Corvette. This allows you to instantly beam down to theplanet's surface. A temporary teleporter will remain active on theground, allowing you to beam back up to your ship at any time. This newfeature is perfect for quickly collecting rare resources without wasting fuel on each takeoff and landing.

Skydiving

If you are inside a planet's atmosphere, you can even skydive directly off the back of your Corvette! This is a thrilling new way to explore, butbe sure to have a way to recall your ship later.

Autopilot Management

Before leaving the pilot's seat, you can set your ship to one of several autopilot modes, including:

  • Maintaining the current flight path.
  • Autopilot to the nearest Space Station.
  • Autopilot to any mapped planet in the current star system.
