At times, amassing a collection of minerals is essential to create your desired projects or generate items for crafting Units. Maximize your resource extraction in No Man's Sky by constructing a seamless chain of Mineral Extractors that handle the labor for you.
How To Get Mineral Extractor in No Man's Sky?
The Mineral Extractor is an Industrial Module purchased from the Anomaly for 10 Salvaged Data. To do this, go to the Anomaly in space, head inside, and make your way to the back of the station where all the vendors are. Second on the left is the vendor selling Construction Modules.
Here you can also turn on a Gas Extractor that works like the Mineral Extractor but for gases. You'll also see a Supply Depot and Supply Pipe to make the functionality of both extractors better.
To make a Mineral Extractor, you will have to start by finding a mineral hotspot. Enable the Analysis Visor with the Survey Device upgrade equipped, and it will highlight a nearby hotspot. Head to the hotspot and keep the Visor on until it finishes analyzing it.
Each hotspot only gives a single resource, so if you're after something specific, it might take a few runs between different hotspots.
If the hotspot is over the ground and out of range of your base, or you have no base near, well, you will have to make a new base. Slap together a Base Computer and claim the base location. Now with these resources, build a Mineral Extractor directly over the hotspot:
- 5 Metal Plating
- 100 Chromatic Metal
The Mineral Extractor requires 50 power units to work efficiently. You are free to install a Biofuel Reactor or Solar Panels around it for better functioning. With power, the extractor instantly gets into action. The Mineral Extractor works in cycles that will last about an hour or so. Finish your game and jump into other games such as exploring outlaw space stations and then get back to collect your materials.
Mastering the Art of Supply Depots No Man's Sky
Supply Depots and Supply Pipes will let you increase the capacity of resources created by the Mineral and Gas Extractors. The chain works in similar fashion as with the solar panels and batteries. You build a Supply Depot and connect it with the Mineral Extractor using the Supply Pipe.
Supply Depots can be placed quite some distance away from the extractor.
The extra resources your Mineral Extractor generates now will smoothly overflow into the Supply Depot, so you can eventually harvest more resources before getting rid of the storage of them.
