Discover Sentinel Interceptors in No Man's Sky! Uncover secrets, enhance your gameplay, and explore the universe like never before.
Sentinel Interceptor ships are a unique and sought-after class of starships in No Man's Sky. There are two primary methods to add one to your fleet: by utilizing an Echo Locator to find a crashed ship, or by defeating a Sentinel Capital Ship to obtain a special item. Both methods require specific steps, so here's a comprehensive guide on how to acquire your own Sentinel Interceptor.
No Man's Sky: Find Sentinel Interceptors
How to Get a Sentinel Interceptor Using an Echo Locator:
This method involves locating a crashed Sentinel Interceptor on a Dissonant planet.
Find a Dissonant Planet:
- Sentinel Interceptors only appear on planets within Dissonant systems.
- Open your Galaxy Map.
- Look for systems labeled "Dissonant" instead of "Water" or other standard descriptors. These systems often have a unique color scheme or visual indicator.
- Warp to a Dissonant system.
- Once in the system, use your ship's scanner (usually the middle mouse button or a dedicated button) to scan the planets.
- Look for a planet in the system's information panel that has a purple "Dissonance detected" tag in its description. This is the planet where crashed Sentinel Interceptors can be found.
Acquire an Echo Locator:
- Echo Locators are key items used to pinpoint Harmonic Echos. You can obtain them in several ways:
- Defeating Corrupted Sentinels: These are a specific type of Sentinel that you'll encounter on Dissonant planets. Destroying them has a chance to drop an Echo Locator.
- Harmonic Camps: Sometimes found randomly on Dissonant planets. Interacting with structures within these camps might yield an Echo Locator.
Reach the Harmonic Echo:
- Once you have an Echo Locator in your inventory, use it. This will scan the planet and pinpoint the location of a Harmonic Echo. The location will be marked on your planetary map.
- Fly to the marked coordinates to reach the Harmonic Echo settlement.
Interact with the Harmonic Interface:
- Harmonic Echos are settlements with various structures to explore. You'll find Harmonic Scrap that can be mined for resources like Atlantideum, Nanites, and Exosuit Expansion Units.
- Locate the Harmonic Interface, usually found at the far back of the settlement.
- Each Harmonic Interface presents a puzzle:
- "Scan memory registers": Select this option to view three simple math problems.
- Calculate the answers: Solve each of the math problems and write down the three numerical answers.
- "Input override glyphs": Select this option and enter the three answers you calculated. The order in which you enter them doesn't matter.
Deactivate Multi-Tool Seal and Locate Dissonance Spikes:
- After successfully solving the puzzle, you will be given the option to deactivate the Multi-Tool seal and locate the Dissonance Spikes.
- Deactivating the Multi-Tool seal allows you to claim a Sentinel Multi-Tool from the station located on the left side of the Harmonic Interface.
- Locating Dissonance Spikes will mark the location of the nearest crashed Sentinel Interceptor on the planet.
- Important: You don't have to choose between the Multi-Tool and the ship location. After selecting one option, go back to the Harmonic Interface and select the other to get both.
Claim the Crashed Sentinel Interceptor:
- Fly to the coordinates marked by the Dissonance Spikes. You will find a crashed Sentinel Interceptor.
- Interact with the crashed ship to begin the claiming process.
- Move all the salvageable components to your inventory, including a crucial item called the Hyaline Brain. At this point, a quest related to this specific ship will appear in your Log.
Cleanse the Hyaline Brain:
- Open your inventory and locate the Hyaline Brain. Select the "Probe Subconscious" option.
- Hop into your current starship and follow the quest marker to an Ancient Site (often a Monolith). The quest will provide the exact coordinates if you prefer manual navigation.
- Interact with the Monolith at the Ancient Site to cleanse the Hyaline Brain, transforming it into the Harmonic Brain.
- Warning: Some Monoliths can bug out and present incorrect dialogue, preventing further interaction and quest progression. To avoid this, make a save before interacting with the Monolith or be prepared to look for a different crashed Sentinel Interceptor if this happens.
Repair the Sentinel Interceptor:
- Bring the Harmonic Brain back to the crashed Sentinel Interceptor.
- Interact with the ship and use the Harmonic Brain to fix the Pilot Interface.
- Once the Pilot Interface is repaired, you can fully inspect the Sentinel Interceptor and add it to your starship collection.
How to Get a Sentinel Interceptor Using a Sentinel Capital Ship:
This method involves engaging and defeating a powerful Sentinel Capital Ship in space.
Engage a Sentinel Capital Ship:
- Sentinel Capital Ships can appear when you reach a high enough level of Sentinel aggression in a Dissonant system. This is usually triggered by repeatedly attacking planetary Sentinels or Corrupted Sentinels.
- Once the Capital Ship warps in, be prepared for a challenging fight.
Eliminate Interceptors:
- Before focusing on the Capital Ship, destroy all the smaller Sentinel Interceptor ships that accompany it. This will make the fight against the Capital Ship itself much easier.
Destroy Shield Generators and Turrets:
- Similar to pirate Dreadnoughts, the Sentinel Capital Ship has shield generators (brown ball-shaped structures) located on both sides of its hull, along with numerous turrets.
- Prioritize destroying the turrets to reduce incoming fire.
- Once the turrets are down, focus on destroying the shield generators. Taking these out will make the Capital Ship vulnerable.
Destroy the Capital Ship:
- Unfortunately, the Sentinel Capital Ship doesn't have any other obvious weak spots.
- Once the shields are down, simply hold down the trigger and continue firing until the Capital Ship is destroyed. This can take some time.
Claim the Carrier AI Fragment:
- Upon successfully defeating the Sentinel Capital Ship, you will be awarded a Carrier AI Fragment.
- This is a consumable item that functions similarly to an Echo Locator but directly leads you to a crashed Sentinel Interceptor.
Locate and Repair the Crashed Interceptor:
- Use the Carrier AI Fragment from your inventory.
- If a crashed Interceptor is in the current system, it will be marked on your planetary map.
- If the crashed Interceptor is in another system, the Carrier AI Fragment will guide you to that system using the Galaxy Map.
- Once you reach the crash site, follow the same steps outlined in the "Using an Echo Locator" method (starting from step 6) to claim, cleanse the Hyaline Brain, and repair the Sentinel Interceptor.
By following either of these methods, you can successfully acquire a unique and powerful Sentinel Interceptor ship to add to your collection in No Man's Sky. Choose the method that best suits your playstyle and current resources. Good luck, Interloper!
