In battle, keep your distance, spam Snarl to lower its Special Attack,and dodge its telegraphed moves. When it summons the Cage, immediatelytarget the glowing weak point. Use Max Potions liberally. Patience iskey—this is a war of attrition.
Follow this 8-step plan to secure your victory.
Step 1: Pre-Battle Preparation (Team Building)
Your core team should be at Level 155 minimum. Focus on Pokémon with Bug, Dark, or Ghost-type moves. Recommended Megas include Mega Scizor (Bullet Punch, X-Scissor), Mega Houndoom (Dark Pulse, Flamethrower), or Mega Sableye (as above). Have at least one bulky Pokémon that can take a hit.
Step 2: Item Stockpile
Visit the Lumiose Boutiques and stock up:
Max Potions x20
Full Restores x10
X Defense / X Special Defense x5 each (crucial for survival)
Leppa Berries to restore your own Pokémon's PP.
Step 3: Initiating the Battle
The battle begins in a confined arena. Do not rush in. Take a moment to observe Rogue Mega Meowstic's starting animation.
Step 4: Phase 1 - The Opening Salvo
It will often open with Teleport or Psybeam. Keep your camera rotating to track it after Teleport. For Psybeam, asimple sidestep dodges it. Send out your primary counter (e.g., MegaScizor) and begin landing super-effective moves.
Step 5: Handling Key Attacks
Shadow Ball: This dark orb tracks youslowly. Let it approach, then dodge-roll at the last possible moment tobait its explosion and create an opening.
Moon Blast: A pink AoE erupts around it. Disengage immediately and attack from range until the effect dissipates.
Step 6: The Critical Cage Phase
At roughly 50% HP, it will retreat and summon a large, crystalline Cage. This is the most important phase.
DO NOT attack the boss directly.
LOOK for a brightly glowing spot on the Cage structure.
TARGET that spot with your fastest moves. Breaking the Cage interrupts its healing and leaves it vulnerable.
Step 7: The Final Push
After breaking the Cage, Rogue Mega Meowstic will be stunned. This is your signal to go all out. Use your strongest moves, Mega-Evolve if you haven't, and burn throughyour remaining HP. Heal your active Pokémon proactively, even if theyare at half health, as a surprise critical hit can end your run.
Step 8: Victory & Rewards
Upon defeat, you'll receive a massive EXP payout, Rogue Catalyst crafting material, and the "Meowstic Menace" achievement. You can now challenge it again in the Battle Simulation mode.
The Stall Strategy: Use a Mega Scolipede with Iron Defense and Bug Bite. Boost your defense to maximum while chipping away with Bug Bite. Very safe, but time-consuming.
The Glass Cannon: If you're confident in your dodging, use a Mega Gengar (from post-game raids) with Shadow Ball and Sludge Bomb. Its immense special attack can shorten the fight, but you must avoid every hit.
Co-op Mode: If you're playing with the new Sync Battle feature from the DLC, have one player draw aggro and dodge while the other focuses purely on damage.
Always Grind Smarter: Use the "Auto-Battle" feature in Wild Zones against high-EXP Pokémon like Blissey to level efficiently.
Diversify Your Team: Never rely on asingle Pokémon. Build a core roster of 6-8 leveled Pokémon covering alltypes, focusing on those with Mega Evolutions.
