How to repair the Ruined Tool in Hollow Knight Silksong

In the highly anticipated game Hollow Knight: Silksong, players can discover a number of secrets and powerful tools to aid Hornet on her journey. One such item is the Ruined Tool, a broken piece of equipment found in a distant corner of Pharloom. This item can be repaired in one of three different ways, each leading to a unique variant of a powerful new weapon: the Silkshot.This guide will tell you where to find the Ruined Tool and detail the three different methods you can use to repair it, as well as the unique abilities of each resulting weapon.

Where to Find the Ruined Tool

The Ruined Tool is located in a hidden area of Bilewater in the southeastern part of the map. To get to it, you'll need the Needolin tool, which you can get from defeating the Widow boss.

• From the entrance to the Weavenest Murglin area in Bilewater, drop down into the maggot-filled water at the bottom of the screen.
• Head to the right until you find a locked door. Use your Needolin to play a tune that opens the door.
• Proceed into the next room and drop down the first gap you see into more maggot-filled water.
• Continue right, and then look for a climbable wall above you. Scale the wall using your Cling Grip ability.
• Move to the left in this new area, and you will find the Ruined Tool on a table.

Once you have the Ruined Tool, you must choose one of three locations to repair it. This choice is permanent, so consider which Silkshot variant best suits your playstyle.

Locations to Repair the Ruined Tool

1. Forge Daughter (Single Shot)

The most straightforward option is to take the Ruined Tool to the Forge Daughter in the Deep Docks. This vendor will repair the tool for 240 Rosaries and 1 Craftmetal.

• Resulting Weapon: The Silkshot you receive fires a single, large slug-like projectile.This is a simple, reliable option with the highest ammo capacity of thethree variants. It's excellent for dealing with single, heavily-armoredenemies.

2. Twelfth Architect (Burst Fire)

The second option is to take the Ruined Tool to the Twelfth Architect, who is found in the Underworks. This repair will cost 130 Rosaries and 1 Craftmetal.

• Resulting Weapon: This Silkshot fires a three-shot burst in an ascending spread. While it has less overall ammo than the Forge Daughter's version, its burst fire is ideal for hitting multiple targets at once or for dealing highdamage to a large enemy at close range.

3. Mount Fay (Railgun)

The final method requires you to repair the tool yourself. You can find aspecial crafting table in a room just below the peak of Mount Fay, in the same area where you obtain the Faydown Cloak.

• Resulting Weapon: This is arguably the most powerful variant. This Silkshot fires asingle, high-damage beam that must be charged before firing. It has thelowest ammo capacity, but its powerful, piercing shot can go throughmultiple enemies at once. This version also costs no Rosaries to craft,only 1 Craftmetal. Firing it while jumping will briefly hold Hornet in mid-air, making it a valuable tool for both combat and traversal.
