How to complete Prison Break quest in Assassin's Creed Shadows

The Prison Break quest continues directly from the "Not Alone in this World" mission. You begin as Yasuke, having infiltrated Sumoto Castle via a secret pathway. Your primary objectives are to locate and free the captives, retrieve Naoe’s gear, secure your escape route, and ultimately confront a formidable boss in a climactic battle.

Step 1: Locate and Free Naoe and Tsuyu

• Begin the quest and proceed forward from the starting point.
• Scale the nearby wall and advance in a northeast direction.
• Enter through a door and ascend a staircase. Be prepared to defeat a lone guard stationed there.
• Once the enemy is neutralized, open the door at the top of the stairs to find Naoe and Tsuyu held captive, completing the first objective.

Step 2: Retrieve Naoe’s Equipment

• Perspective shifts to Naoe. Your new goal is to retrieve her hidden gear.
• Use a rope mechanism to traverse to the rooftop opposite the prison cell.
• Locate a small door or opening to climb down into the room below.
• Exercise patience; wait for a conversation between two guards to conclude. One guard will eventually exit the room.
• Seize the opportunity, drop into the now-vacant room, and collect Naoe’s gear from within.

Step 3: Secure the Courtyard Area

• With her gear equipped, you must now clear the surrounding courtyard of enemies to create a safe path for Yasuke and Tsuyu.
• Utilize stealth to your advantage. Use high vantage points on rooftops to plan your approach and perform stealth assassinations.
• Systematically eliminate each guard in the area without raising an alarm.
• Once the area is secure, locate and open the large main building door. Then, follow Yasuke and open the gate at the end of the path.

Step 4: Defend the Position as Yasuke

• Switch back to Yasuke for a defensive stand. You must protect your position against several waves of incoming soldiers.
• This combat-intensive segment is ideal for using Yasuke’s heavy-hittingweapons, like the Kanabo. Employ his unique combat abilities to managegroups of enemies efficiently and break through enemy defenses.

Step 5: Stealth escort with Naoe and Tsuyu

• Control returns to Naoe. Your task is to follow Tsuyu quietly through a more guarded section of the castle grounds.
• Crouch and stay in cover. Follow Tsuyu to a bush and remain hidden.
• Listen for her command, then assassinate a nearby guard from your concealed position.
• Continue following her to the next piece of cover. Wait for another guard to approach and eliminate him silently.
• Ahead, you will find two enemies standing together near an entrance.Coordinate a double assassination to take them both out simultaneously.
• Finally, climb to the platform above the door and interact with the mechanism to "Lower Platform."

Step 6: Provide Ranged Support for Naoe

• You are back as Yasuke. As Naoe works the mechanism, you must providedefensive support using ranged weapons like the Bow or Teppo.
• Snipers and explosive barrels are your best friends. Shoot explosives at the right moment to eliminate multiple guards quickly.
• Ammo crates are scattered in the area, allowing you to refill arrows and bullets.
• Remain vigilant, as some enemies will climb up to your position and engage inmelee combat. Switch to your close-range weapons to deal with thesethreats.
• Continue eliminating all threats until Naoe successfully lowers the platform completely.
• Once she signals you, leap across the gap and meet her at the south-eastern entrance.

Step 7: Boss Fight - Defeat Tomeji

• Prepare for a challenging duel against the armored boss, Tomeji.
• Strategy: Tomeji is a tank-like opponent. The key to victory is patience and precision.
  • Focus on dodging and parrying his powerful attacks to create openings for your own counters.
  • His armor significantly reduces damage. Use heavy attacks and abilities like the Spine Breaker (if wielding a Kanabo) to gradually break his armor.
  • Once his armor is shattered, Tomeji becomes vulnerable and will take substantial damage from your assaults.
• Persist with this strategy, and when his health drops to roughly 30%, a cinematic will trigger, ending the battle.

Step 8: The Final Escape

• The escape isn't over yet. A final volley of arrows will rain down as you make your run for freedom.
• Use the environment for cover and move cautiously toward the northeast exit.
• After navigating this last hazard, a final cutscene will play, confirmingyour successful escape from Sumoto Castle with both Naoe and Tsuyu.
• You will be presented with dialogue prompts; your choice here is narrative and does not affect the outcome of the mission.
