How To Beat The Unravelled in Hollow Knight Silksong

In the highly anticipated world of Hollow Knight: Silksong, players can expect to face a host of challenging bosses, both mandatory and optional. One such hidden challenge is the Unravelled, a secret boss fight that rewards players with a Silk Heart. This guide will detail how to locate this boss, analyze its attack patterns, and provide strategies to help you emerge victorious.

Locating the Unravelled Boss

The Unravelled is a secret, optional boss fight found in the Whiteward region. To access its arena, you must first obtain a key. The Surgeon's Key is the item you need, and it can be found in the upper-right section of the Whiteward, in a room directly above the boss's arena. You'll need to use your Clawline ability on a hidden grapple point to reveal a passage and retrieve the key.Once you have the Surgeon's Key, you can proceed to the lower section of the Whiteward. Use the key on the "Ornate Lock" to unlock a sluice gate that leads to the boss arena. This boss is accessible during Act 2 of the game, so you can take it on once you have the necessary traversal abilities.

The Unravelled Boss Overview

The fight against the Unravelled begins with a small gauntlet of enemies. You will first have to defeat a Dreg Husk and a Dregwheel before the main boss emerges. The Unravelled is a large, imposing creature covered in silk. It relies on a limited but punishing moveset, and it's essential to learn its attack patterns to survive.

Phase 1

• Charge Attack: The boss will emerge from the ground on one side of the arena and charge horizontally across to the other. This attack is highly telegraphed, but its large hitbox can make it difficult to evade. The best way to counter this is to jump over the Unravelled and land on its backside, where you can get a few hits in.
• Spit Balls: After taking a certain amount of damage, the Unravelled will begin to spit two projectiles from its mouth. One will be a high projectile and the other will be low. These can be dodged by simply jumping over the low one.

Phase 2

• Upward Spears: The boss will emerge in the center of the arena and summon spears that rise from the ground on the far left and right. These spears will then move toward the center before shooting down. You canavoid this by staying mobile and not lingering in the same spot for toolong.
• Extended Spit Balls: The Unravelled's spit ball attack becomes more dangerous in this phase. It will now fire three projectiles at once in a randomized pattern of high, middle, and low. This makes it more challenging to evade, so you'll need to be quick with your movements.

Tips and Tricks for Victory

The Unravelled is a test of endurance and focus. While the boss fight doesn't have a strict time limit, it is designed to wear you down.

• Patience is a Virtue: Take your time. The most important thing is to avoid taking damage. Only attack after you've successfully dodged a move.
• Counter the Charge: The charge attack is your best opportunity to deal damage. Jump over the boss and strike its back. The Hunter Crest is a great option here, as its diagonal pogo allows you to attack while getting into a safe position.
• Utilize Tools and Skills: Tools can be a game-changer. The Conchutter is a great choice as it will bounce around the arena, likely hitting the boss while you focus on evasion. For your Silk Skills, using your parry ability can negate the boss's charge attack, creating an opening for you to strike.
• Exploit the Moveset: The boss's attacks are predictable. When you see the dust clouds on either side of the arena, be ready for a charge attack. When you see it emerge in the center and hear it shout, be ready for the spears.
• Healing: Use the moments after you've dodged a move to heal if you need to. The boss is slow to attack after a charge, so this is a good opportunity to use your Bind ability to regain health.

Upon defeating the Unravelled, you will be rewarded with a Silk Heart. This valuable item refills all the Silk you've used in the battle andpermanently increases your silk regeneration rate, making futureencounters much easier.
