In Death Stranding 2, the quantity of cargo you need to deliver can vary significantly, and you have an array of tools to help you complete these tasks. However, ground transportation is often fraught with hazards and risks, including natural disasters, BTs, and bandits. Introducing a new, streamlined feature, Death Stranding 2 incorporates the monorail system, allowing you to effortlessly transport thousands of kilograms of cargo with minimal personal risk.Minor spoilers are included below, specifically regarding when features are unlocked and objectives for one main order. Proceed with caution.

Death Stranding 2: How to Expand the Monorail

How to Unlock the Monorail

You will gain access to the Monorail system shortly after your arrival in Australia. Setting up the initial Monorail line is an integral part of the main story progression once you reach West Fort Knot.Your first key objective in this process is to repair the nearby mine. Following its repair, you'll need to utilize Chiral Crystals to produce a substantial quantity of Special Alloy. Finally, you will ship this generated cargo back to West Fort Knot, completing the necessary steps to activate the first segment of the Monorail. Specifically, this is part of Order 13: Restore the Monorail and Deliver Special Alloys to F1.

While the initial monorail line between West Fort Knot and the mineis undoubtedly helpful, you'll gain significantly more benefit byexpanding the network to reach additional parts of Australia. Expandingthe monorail beyond this initial segment is not directly tied to the main story and serves as a side objective you can pursue at your own pace.

As you explore the vast Australian landscape, you will encounter metal poles known as Tracklayers. Similar to the terminals used for building roads, you can insertmaterials into these Tracklayers to construct additional monorail rails. Tracklayers generally require Chiral Crystals, Resin, and Special Alloy, with the specific amounts varying per section.

Tracklayers you build can also be used as Ziplines, offering an alternative methodof traversal and rapid supply drops once connected.

Forexample, some Tracklayers might demand considerable resources, such as400 Chiral Crystals, 640 Resin, and 720 Special Alloy, to establish anew monorail track. Conversely, you'll also find some sections thatrequire significantly fewer resources, like 40 Chiral Crystals, 40Resin, and 120 Special Alloy. The most efficient way to rapidly expandthe monorail network is to load a Pickup Off-Roader with as muchResin and Special Alloy as possible, then systematically drive from oneTracklayer to the next, making contributions.

If you areuncertain about the location of the next Tracklayer, simply follow thedirection in which the existing rails are pointing.

Onceyou've sufficiently expanded the monorail, you will unlock additionalstops, greatly enhancing your ability to traverse Australia much morequickly. In fact, a later mission, Main Order 20, becomesconsiderably easier to complete if you have the Monorail set up toextend all the way from the F2 South Distribution Center to West FortKnot. With the network established, you merely need to load the required cargo onto the monorail and send it south, completing the delivery with minimal personal effort.
