In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, players will frequently encounter bodies of water while exploring as Sam. These can prove challenging to cross, primarily due to strong currents. Given that Sam often carries significant cargo, a loss of stamina can lead to him losing his footing, falling, and potentially losing all his precious goods.In such scenarios, constructing a bridge is often the most effective solution—but this capability must first be unlocked. This guide provides information on when and how to build a bridge, along with the required materials, in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

When Do You Unlock Bridges in Death Stranding 2?

Bridges in Death Stranding 2 are not available from the outset of the game. You must progress through the main story by completing various orders.The first step towards building a bridge is gaining access to a PCC (Portable Chiral Constructor). This occurs after you successfully complete Order No. 3. Once you acquire the blueprints for a PCC, you can fabricate it whenever you wish.However, hold off on building just yet and continue completing more orders. It is during the sixth order that players will engage in a fight against a Giant BT. After this encounter, upon returning to the distribution center, an NPC will inform you that both generators and bridges can now be constructed.A generator is a useful structure that you can build to recharge the batteries of vehicles and the Tri-Cruiser Bike. Since vehicle batteries can typically only be charged at garages within distribution centers or safehouses, placing a generator at a midpoint between two locations can be strategically beneficial. This is particularly helpful in preventing you from having to abandon your bike mid-journey due to a drained battery.

Building a Bridge in Death Stranding 2

Once you have the ability to construct bridges, here's how to do it:

Fabricate a PCC: Ensure you have a PCC in your inventory.

Reach the Location: Make your way to the specific location where you intend to build thebridge. Bridges are predominantly used to traverse bodies of water, butthey can also facilitate easier traversal across large gaps in roads orcliffs.

Deploy the PCC: Take out your PCC by holding the right D-pad, which opens the Weapons/Tools wheel.

Holographic Outline: When you select the option to build a bridge, a holographic outlinewill appear, demonstrating how it can be placed. You will also bepresented with two possible lengths to choose from:

• Length 30: Costs 600 materials
• Length 45: Costs 800 materials

Placement Requirements: When placing the bridge, it is crucial to ensure that neither end is near a steep slope or too close to the water's surface. If these conditions are not met, the game will prevent you from initiating the construction process.

Initiate Construction: Once the foundation has been successfully set, you can use the metals you possess to begin the build.

It’s important to note that if you’re running low on metal, you can alwayscheck the shared storage in Safehouses and Distribution Centers foradditional resources.
