Where to find The Ghost Hunter in Death Stranding 2

In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the Ghost Hunter is an intriguing optional NPC that requires a specific series of steps to unlock and connect to the Chiral Network. While a basic delivery sub-order will introduce you to him, it won't be enough to establish a full connection.

Death Stranding 2: Where to find The Ghost Hunter

To fully unlock the Ghost Hunter, you need to undertake an optional mission chain.Initial Encounter:

Progress to Episode 8: Deluge: You must advance through the main campaign until you reach Episode 8: Deluge.

Meet the Chronobiologist: During Episode 8, you'll receive a main mission to meet the Chronobiologist.

Craft EX Capture Grenades: At the Chronobiologist's camp, you'll gain the ability to craft EX Capture Grenades, which are used to capture and summon BTs.

Pick Up Sub-Order: From the Chronobiologist's terminal, accept the sub-order: "Deliver proof of an attack to the Ghost Hunter."

Locate Ghost Hunter: Head north down the sloping path from the Chronobiologist's camp to find the Ghost Hunter's mini-base.

Uncovering the Headless Riders (Crucial for Connection):

Upon delivering the goods from the Chronobiologist, the Ghost Hunter stillwon't connect to the Chiral Network. You must complete a specificfollow-up mission:

Accept "Uncover the identity of the Headless Riders" Order: Check the Ghost Hunter's terminal and select the sub-order/mission: "Uncover the identity of the Headless Riders and remove the threat."

Mission Requirements:

• Location: Due northeast of the Ghost Hunter's camp, just across the river that leads back to the Mechanic.
• Vehicle: You must be riding a Tri-Cruiser. You can fabricate one or find one left by another player.
• Time of Day: It must be nighttime when you arrive at the marked location. To change the day-night cycle, simply sleep in a private room.
• Weapons: Be sure to bring several weapons, such as the Bola Stun Gun (from the Inventor), Machine Gun, Assault Rifle, or Shotgun.

The Headless Riders Battle

Once you meet the requirements (on a Tri-Cruiser and at night) and arrive at the marked location, approach the glowing red Auto-Pave device totrigger a cutscene, leading to the Headless Riders battle.

Battle Tips:

• Mounted Combat: You'll be fighting dozens of motorcycle-riding enemies whilecontinuously riding your Tri-Cruiser. New waves will spawn as you defeat current ones.
• Weapon Effectiveness:
  • The Bola Stun Gun is highly effective, dealing damage and briefly incapacitating opponents, making them easier targets for follow-up attacks.
  • Other effective weapons include the Machine Gun, Assault Rifle, or Shotgun.
• Enemy Attacks: Be prepared for various enemy attacks, such as:
  • A spinning blade move if they are far ahead of you.
  • Multiple grenade explosions that travel along the highway, requiring evasive maneuvers.
• Target the Blue Glow: After defeating several enemies on red bikes, a target with a blue glow will appear. This is your main target. Eliminate it and any remaining hostiles to complete the encounter.
  
  

How to Increase Your Connection with the Ghost Hunter via Orders

After successfully dealing with the Headless Riders, return to the GhostHunter's camp. Speak with him, and he will agree to connect to theChiral Network. From this point, you can deliver additional cargo toimprove your reputation level. While lost cargo items near his areadon't seem to respawn, you can reliably increase your connection bycompleting specific orders from other NPCs that require deliveries tothe Ghost Hunter.

These orders refresh periodically (taking several hours), so you'll need to recheck these facilities:

• Heartman's Lab: Deliver the Surrealist Painting (8 kg).
• The Pioneer: Deliver Meteorite Fragments (360 kg).
• The Mechanic: Deliver High-End Audio Devices (40 kg).
• Eastern Environmental Observatory: Deliver Special Alloys (60 kg).

Note: At certain connection ranks, the Ghost Hunter will contact you via SSS (Sam's System Services).8 When prompted, head back to his camp to undertake his next mission, which may include another boss battle.

Building your connection with the Ghost Hunter yields valuable rewards:

• Rank 2:
  • Porter Suit: Woodland
  • Rocket Box [MP] weapon
• Rank 3: Phantom Gas Grenade
• Rank 4:
  • Large Grenade Pouch
  • Backpack Patch 50: BT Kheir
• Rank 5:
  • Custom Hologram: The Ghost Hunter
  • Backpack Patch 47: BT Gigas

Important Notes:

• Final Task (Rank 5): Before you reach full Rank 5, the Ghost Hunter has one final task: defeating the BT Gigas boss.
• "The Real Story of the Ghost Hunter" Trophy:
  • After completing the game and seeing the ending, you can activate the Drawbridge Q-pid setting (likely a post-game option related to narrative progression).
  • When you visit the Ghost Hunter's camp with this setting active, he won't be there, and Dollman will make a comment. This action unlocks the "The Real Story of the Ghost Hunter" trophy.
  • You can then disable the Drawbridge Q-pid setting to make the Ghost Hunterreappear if you wish to continue increasing his connection level oraccept further orders.
