This victory unlocks the Fright Cliff region, a sprawling expanse of towering cliffs and dense forests.
Within this breathtaking landscape lies the Squall Hideout Keeper's Shrine, a sacred sanctuary that serves as a gateway to further adventures. From this point, veer right and embark on a journey through winding paths and treacherous terrain. Keep your senses sharp, as the distinctive chanting of a nearby Buddha's Eyeball will guide you towards your destination.
Once you reach the designated location, a mysterious NPC will appear, offering you a challenging quest. You'll be tasked with defeating a powerful Yaoguai lurking deep within a hidden cave. However, the vast and interconnected nature of this region can make finding this optional boss a daunting endeavor for even the most seasoned adventurers.
Mother of Stones' Location and Boss Fight
To find the Mother of Stones, return to the Squall Hideout Keeper's Shrine. Instead of taking the usual path, veer left and proceed through the gate. Encountering enemies along the way, keep going until you reach a junction guarded by two archers perched atop wooden scaffolding.
- Turn left and stand on the puddle. At the next junction, take the path to your left, marked by three small torches. While the brightly lit path may be tempting, it leads to a different area that advances the main story.
- The Mother of Stones boss fight is relatively straightforward. This Yaoguai is incapable of attacking directly and only summons regular rock monsters to disrupt the battle. Prioritize eliminating these rock monsters before focusing on the boss. Once defeated, return to the Man in Stone and offer him the Stone Essence.
