Before you can begin your hunt for these exclusive legendary items, you must first gather the letters that contain the clues. There arethree separate letters, and each one is divided into three differentpieces. As you collect more pieces, the clues become more detailed andspecific.
Acquiring these letter fragments is a relatively simpleprocess that happens naturally as you play. Some pieces are carried byenemies you ambush and defeat, which are quite numerous on Awaji Island. Other fragments can be found in enemy outposts; simply use yourobservation ability to scan the area for a white quest-item clue. Thefragments are typically located in small containers or on a table.
You can check your progress on collecting the letters at any time bynavigating to the quest item section in your inventory. In general, youwon't need to go on a dedicated search for the fragments of Tomeji'sPrize, Nowaki's Memento, or Yasuhira's Secret. Most players will findthem without even trying during the first few hours of their exploration in the new content. Once all the pieces for a particular letter havebeen gathered, the real puzzle-solving can begin.
This cryptic message from Tomeji is widely considered the moststraightforward of the three quests because it provides preciselocations to aid your search. The only twist is that the treasure'slocation is dependent on the in-game season. The item is located in Yura Castle during the winter and summer, while it moves to Sumoto Castle in the spring and autumn.
To claim your prize, you will also need to first locate a key to the respective storage area, or kura. This key can be found in a variety of places, sometimes carried by arandom enemy or placed on a table in a camp, so keep an eye out whileexploring.
For players navigating the enormous Sumoto Castle, the correct location is the stable kura in the southeastern corner. It's situated right next to a stable area surrounded by crops. The western storage kura in Yura Castle is easier to pinpoint, but its exact spot is marked on your map.
As you explore the castle's storage sheds, be aware that you are notlooking for a typical chest. The treasure is a distinct, golden objectplaced high on top of materials within the vault. Make liberal use ofyour observation ability to avoid overlooking the item.
The reward for completing Tomeji's Prize is a bit less than monumental compared to the "item of great value" description in the letter. You will receivethe Master Fisherman's Kasa, a legendary helmet for Yasuke. Thisheadpiece perfectly complements the look of a wandering warrior. Itsunique engraving is "Avoid death but lose health until killing anenemy," which can be a valuable perk given the heightened difficulty ofthe "Claws of Awaji" expansion.
This letter from Yasuhira's spies hints at a secret stash of boats along the coastline, with a valuable outfit hidden nearby. The outfit is said tobe tucked away beneath a twisted tree, close to one of the boats. Themost specific clue points to a boat on the western coast, right wherethe Sumoto and Fukura regions meet.
A great place to begin yoursearch is the Wrecked Boat landmark on the island's western shore. Fromthis spot, you can follow the shoreline to the south, moving toward thepoint where the Sumoto and Fukura regions converge on the map. As youmake your way along the coast, you will soon notice a solitary twistedtree surrounded by several small boats. Use your observation ability topinpoint the golden treasure lying on the ground.
The reward for uncovering Yasuhira's Secret is the Master Fisherman's Outfit, a legendary armor piece for Yasuke. Its special engraving grants "25%damage reduction when surrounded by four or more enemies," making itincredibly useful for the intense ambushes you face in the new content. Many of the shinobi ambushes in the Awaji expansion involve at leastfour enemies, so this engraving is a game-changer. The outfit also has a sleek, sophisticated design that enhances the wandering roninaesthetic, providing a stylish alternative to the typical armoredwarrior appearance.
This is arguably the most challenging of the three treasures to locate, asthe clues are more abstract and the path to the treasure is less direct. The letter from Nowaki details the whereabouts of her prized weapon, alegendary kusarigama. The path to her secret hiding spot beginsat a fork in the road west of Kanaguchi Village, specifically the onemarked by a formation of five stone lanterns.
This starting pointis actually quite a distance from Kanaguchi Village, located closer tothe Trail of Eshima map marker. As a result, many players may find itmore convenient to begin their journey from the Iwaya Castlesynchronization point if they have already unlocked it.
From thesynchronization point, you should jump down and cross the small pondlocated near the training grounds. After dealing with a few enemies, climb the fence and proceed straight into the bushes. Shortly after, you will emerge into a sun-drenched clearing by the water. Here, you willfind a large nest woven from branches. This is the location where thereward for Nowaki's Memento can be claimed.
The prize is the Ophidian Feeder, a legendary kusarigama for Naoe. This powerful weapon comes with a unique engraving: "RushAssassination triggers a slowdown effect." This effect is exclusivelycompatible with kusarigama weapons, as the Rush Assassination ability requires a kusarigama to close the distance to your target before assassinating them. Beyondits exceptional ability, the Ophidian Feeder also provides a bonus toCritical Damage and features a distinct appearance that many playerswill find highly appealing.
