The quest for the Sacred Sword is one of the most captivating secrets in Silent Hill f. This powerful blade is not just a weapon; it's the key to unlocking the game's deepest lore and most challenging conclusions. Unlike other items, this pursuit is reserved for those brave enough to face the fog a second time, as it can only be initiated in New Game+ (NG+).
This comprehensive guide will walk you through every step of the "Legend of the Sacred Sword" puzzle, detailing the locations of the five mystical Jizo Statues, their corresponding elemental offerings, and the final ritual at the Divine Tree.
The Sacred Sword Quest: An Overview
Before you begin your hunt, understand the scope of your mission. Scattered throughout the town of Ebisugaoka are five unique Jizo Statues, each representing one of the five classical Japanese elements: Earth, Water, Wood, Fire, and Metal. Your goal is to find each statue, locate its specific offering nearby, and present it. Only after all five have been satisfied can you claim your divine reward.
Pro Tip: While not strictly necessary, finding the "Research Photos" associated with each statue will enrich the story and automatically update your map and journal, making the puzzle much easier to track.
Where to Find the Divine Tree
Your journey truly begins at the Divine Tree. To find it, progress through the story until your objective is to
"Head to Shu’s house." The tree is located to the south of his home and just west of a small shrine. You likely passed it during your first playthrough, but in NG+, interacting with it will mark its location on your map, turning it into your central hub for this side quest.
Jizo Statue & Offering Locations
Here is the chronological order to find all five Jizo Statues and their offerings.
1. Earth Jizo Statue
- Story Objective: “Head to Chizuruya General Store.”
- Statue Location: As you descend from the Shimizu residence early in the game, look for a distinctive red postal box. The Earth Jizo is situated nearby.
- Offering (Faded Bride Doll): The offering is found inside an empty residence with an open front door, parallel to the Shimizu house. Search the house for four treasure boxes; these clues will lead you to the Faded Bride Doll, which is hidden in the airing cupboard downstairs. You will need the Treasure Chest Key from an upstairs room, accessed with the Balcony Key.
2. Water Jizo Statue
- Story Objective: “Head to Rinko’s house.”
- Statue Location: After meeting with Shu, you'll traverse farm fields. Take the northmost path until it splits. Instead of going northeast, take the path leading directly north and immediately look for an elevated area on your leftwhere the statue resides.
- Offering: Return to the path split and head northeast this time. The offeringwill be waiting for you on the right-hand side of Sakuko’s familyshrine.
3. Wood Jizo Statue
- Story Objective: “Head to the mountain behind Ebisugaoka Middle School.”
- Statue Location: In the final section of the residential area, just before reaching themiddle school, you'll find a save station shrine. The Wood Jizo islocated south of this shrine.
- Offering: Head to the damaged bridge where you witness Shu and Rinko on theopposite side. The offering is placed at this poignant location, triggering a nostalgic memory for the protagonist.
4. Fire Jizo Statue
- Story Objective: “Head to Shu’s house.”
- Statue Location: This statue is conveniently located on the main path leading directlyto Shu's house. Look for a short adjacent path blocked by a wooden gate; the Jizo is tucked away there.
- Offering: The offering is hidden behind Shu’s house. Look to the right of a small shed-like building that has an Otherworldly flower growing on its roof. This area also contains crucial lore about the game's mysteries.
5. Metal Jizo Statue
- Story Objective: “Make your way down the mountain and head to the Shimizu residence.”
- Statue Location: Before leaving the mountain, thoroughly explore the area around Shu'shouse. The final Jizo is positioned above a stairwell, behind aresidential building. Use the nearby lampposts as a guide.
- Offering (Father's Knife): Directly opposite the final statue, at the back of another house, youwill find your father's knife plunged into a tree trunk. This is thelast offering you need.
Claiming Your Reward: The Sacred Sword Ritual
Once you have made all five offerings, it is time for the final step. Do not follow the objective to the Shimizu residence yet. Instead, turn around and run back to the Divine Tree. The path will now be treacherous, with monsters spawning to block your way. Fight through them or run past them until you reach the tree.
Interacting with the Divine Tree now will trigger a special cutscene where you aredeemed worthy and are finally granted the Sacred Sword.
Sacred Sword Abilities and Endings
The Sacred Sword is a unique weapon with incredible properties:
- Unbreakable: Its durability does not deplete like standard weapons.
- Rechargeable Strength: Its attack power can be buffed and replenished by using any other weapon in your inventory.
- Essential for the Final Boss: This blade is a must-have for the climactic battle.
Most importantly, the Sacred Sword is mandatory for achieving two of SilentHill f's endings. For the "purification" ending, you will need to useToolkits to maintain the sword's condition after performing a specificritual. Your progress on this quest carries over into all subsequentplaythroughs, bringing you closer to uncovering every secret Ebisugaokaholds.
