In
Abiotic Factor, the initial mission serves as a crucial extended tutorial, familiarizing players with core survival and crafting mechanics. A key objective in this early stage is to open a locked cafeteria door to rescue Dr. Jager. This guide will walk you through the mission steps and detail how to craft the essential
Energy Brick needed to unlock the door.
Abiotic Factor: Open the Cafeteria Door
Opening Mission Walkthrough – Speak with Dr. Thule
Your journey begins in The Office Sector. You'll receive your first objective from
Dr. Thule, who is typically found sitting on a bench within the cafeteria. He will inform you that Dr. Jager is locked out and tasks you with opening the cafeteria door, offering no immediate guidance on
how.
Step 1: Locate the Vents in the Storage RoomFind the Storage Room: From the starting elevator, turn right and follow the wall. You'll soon see windows looking into the Storage Room. Walk down the steps to the lower level and enter the room.Loot Everything: This early stage emphasizes scavenging. Grab all loose items you can carry.- Cloth Scraps: Often found on benches, including near Dr. Thule.
- Duct Tape: Common on shelves in the Storage Room.
- Metal Scraps: Obtained by dismantling vents (see next point).
- Crafting Recipe Unlocks: Picking up new materials can unlock new crafting recipes. Collect everything!
Dismantle Vents: Inside the Storage Room, you'll see three vents at ground level. Use the "Dismantle" mechanic (usually with your basic tool) to remove them.- The first two vents on the left are dead ends but often contain a roll of Duct Tape.
- The third vent on the far right is your path forward.
Enter the Vent: Once ready, crouch (B/Circle on controller, default 'C' on keyboard) and enter the vent on the right.Step 2: Combat Encounters & Progressing
Craft Throw Nets: As you exit the vent into the next chamber, pick up any Cloth Scrap you see. Immediately open your crafting menu. You can craft three Throw Nets using just one piece of Cloth Scrap.Defeat Carbuncles: You'll encounter small, glowing enemies called Carbuncles. Throw a net over them to trap them, then approach and use the "Stomp" prompt to finish them off. This is your primary method for dealing with enemies before opening the cafeteria door.Through the Gray Door: After the first Carbuncle, head through the gray door and turn right.Fan Chamber: You'll enter a backroom with multiple fans and another Carbuncle. Trap and stomp it.Yellow Light Vent: To exit this chamber, look for a vent with a yellow light. Enter it.- Loot Toolbox: Inside this vent, you'll find a Toolbox. Make sure to loot it and acquire at least one Screwdriver, as you'll need it later.
- Follow the vent's sole path to its end, which will drop you into another lower backroom chamber.
Metal Pipes: As you drop down, look for metal pipes lining the wall, highlighted in yellow. Dismantle at least three of these to get Metal Pipes. (Pressure Gauges, also from pipes, unlock recipes but aren't immediately crucial if you lack space).Third Enemy Attack: Be ready for a more mobile Carbuncle here. Use its predictable jump attack to dodge, then net and stomp it.Orange Door: To exit this chamber, locate the orange door tucked away on the lower level.Kitchen & Security Office:- Enter the next room and grab the Flashlight from a crate.
- Proceed through the area, then turn right after the computer to enter the kitchen. Loot Metal Knives (essential for later crafting). Watch out for more enemies.
- You'll likely spot a locked door appearing to lead to an office; this is the Security Office, your next destination.
- Exit the kitchen by pressing the green button on the wall at the metal gate.
- After exiting, turn left to see the front door of the Security Office. Straight ahead, you'll see the locked door where Dr. Jager is trapped, and an enemy (likely a smaller Carbuncle or Pest) gnawing on electronics near it. This is where the Energy Brick will be used.
- Enter the Security Office.
Final Step: Using the Energy Brick
Kill the Enemy: Once you have the Energy Brick (instructions below), return to the enemy that was eating the electronics in the wall near Dr. Jager's door. Defeat this enemy.Place Energy Brick: With the enemy gone, you'll now be able to interact with the damaged panel. Place the Energy Brick into the wall to repair the door's lock function.Open the Door: This action will unlock and open the cafeteria door, completing the mission objective.CAUTION: Be prepared for a tough fight! As soon as the Cafeteria Door opens, a large, aggressive enemy called a
Peccary will jump and attack Dr. Jager from behind, then turn its attention to you. This creature is significantly more challenging than anything you've faced so far. Ensure you are well-equipped with weapons (like the Metal Knife), throwables, and healing items before opening that door.
How to Create an Energy Brick in Abiotic Factor
The Energy Brick is a craftable item crucial for the final step.
Enter the Security Office: After entering the Security Office, pass through the first room and go into the second room.Locate Computers: Here, you'll find a television and a coffee table with what appear to be two broken computers on top.Gather Components: On the table, you'll also find a piece of Tech Scrap (often disguised as a calculator) and a Table Leg.- Pick up the Table Leg.
- Use the Table Leg (or any blunt weapon) to bash the two broken computers.
- Each computer will yield the following essential components after being broken down:
- Circuit Board x1
- Power Supply Unit x1
- Case Fan x1
Craft the Energy Brick: These items, along with the Tech Scrap you picked up, are the exact components needed.- Open your crafting menu. You should now see the "IDEA: Energy Brick" recipe.
- Place 1x Tech Scrap, 1x Circuit Board, 1x Power Supply Unit, and 1x Case Fan into the appropriate slots.
- Click on the "brain" icon (or the craft button) to craft your Energy Brick.
With the Energy Brick in hand, you can now proceed to repair the cafeteria door and rescue Dr. Jager!
