How to Dual Wield in Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 is an immersive role-playing game that offers players a wide range of combat options. One popular combat style is dual wielding, which allows characters to wield two weapons simultaneously. To begin dual wielding light weapons, you need to have two light weapons in your inventory. However, it is important to note that dual-wielding light weapons is not recommended for Fighters and Barbarians due to their lack of the Two-Weapon Fighting style, which grants additional benefits when dual wielding.

An exception to this rule is when you have enchanted weapons. Enchanted weapons can provide additional bonuses, such as increased damage or elemental effects. If you have two enchanted light weapons, dual wielding can be a viable option, even for Fighters and Barbarians.

Dual-wielding versatile weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3 requires a specific ability called Dual Wielder. To unlock this ability, you need to progress your character to level 4. At level 4, you will have the option to choose between enhancing your Ability Points or picking a Feat. Dual Wielder is the eighth overall option in the Feat list.

Once you have chosen the Dual Wielder Feat, you can equip versatile weapons in both hands. Versatile weapons, such as longswords or rapiers, provide a balance between damage and versatility. They allow you to deal decent damage while still having the flexibility to use them with one or two hands.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to dual-wield great weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3. Great weapons, such as greataxes or greatswords, are designed to be wielded with two hands for maximum damage. While it may be tempting to try dual-wielding heavy weapons, the game mechanics do not currently support this style of combat.

To unlock the Dual Wielder feat, you need to reach level 4. At this level, you will have the option to enhance your Ability Points or pick a Feat. The Dual Wielder feat is one of the available Feat options. Choosing the Dual Wielder feat allows you to overcome the limitations of dual-wielding light weapons and grants additional benefits when dual-wielding versatile weapons.
