To begin "The Yokai", you must first locate Mamushi at the Hills of Meaning Point of Interest (POI) in Yamashiro. There are two ways to unlock this quest:

Random Encounter Method – Help an NPC in distress during a random world event, and they may share a rumor about Mamushi’s location.

Direct Approach – If you already know where Mamushi is, you can visit him at any time to initiate the quest.

Once you speak with Mamushi, he will task you with finding and confronting six different Yokai across Japan.

All Six Yokai Locations

Each Yokai has specific conditions (time of day, season, or behavior) that must be met before encountering them. Below is a detailed breakdown of where to find each one.

1. Yuki Onna (Omi Region)

• Location: Outside Kawachi Kaza-ana Cave (northeastern Omi, between Suzuka Foothills and Ibu Highlands).
• Condition: Only appears in Winter.
• Notes: Yuki Onna is a ghostly snow spirit. Approach her carefully to trigger the encounter.

2. Daitengu (Harima Region)

• Location: Arima Onsen (northeast of Kakogawa Estuary).
• Condition: Found practicing sword forms near the riverbank.
• Bonus: Don’t miss the Legendary Chest just north of his camp.

3. Kappa (Yamashiro Region)

• Location: Haunted Tatarigami Village (Genbu Highlands).
• Condition: Only appears at night, near the eastern stream.
• Important: Do not attack the Kappa—they are actually starving children. Instead, follow them to a thieves' camp and speak with them to resolve the encounter peacefully.

4. Bakemono (Izumi Settsu Region)

• Location: Suika Lands (northern Yamata Plains, near Ogura Pond).
• Condition: Only appears in Summer or Fall.
• Notes: The nature of the "Bakemono" will become clear during the encounter.

5. Oshiroi Baba (Yamato Region)

• Location: Southern Nara Heartland (northeast of Katsuragi).

• Combat Tip: You must fight her, but the battle will end in a cutscene. In canon mode, she survives.

6. Taka Nyudo (Tamba Region)

• Location: Kabasaka Village (The Silver Lands, southwest of Narutaki Falls).

Final Showdown: Ao Andon

After defeating all six Yokai, you must face Ao Andon, the final spectral entity. This battle tests all the skills you’ve honed throughout the quest.

Rewards for Completing "The Yokai"

Upon defeating Ao Andon, you’ll receive:

• Critical Chance With Backstab (Engraving) – Enhances assassination damage.
• Melon Cart (Outdoor Cosmetic) – A decorative item for your hideout.
• 7,000 XP – Significant experience boost.

Additionally, visiting Food Vendors across Japan will now grant increased Max Rations for Naoe and Yasuke, ensuring better survival during long missions.

Tips for Success

• Check the Season & Time: Some Yokai only appear in specific seasons or at night.
• Avoid Unnecessary Combat: The Kappa must be approached peacefully.
