The method for unlocking this door is simple and permanent once triggered.

• Keep Playing: Continue with your runs and return to this specific Hearthroot location in the Stonedale Citadel several times.
• Find the NPC: Eventually, you will find an NPC holding a knife standing outside the locked door.
• Pay the Toll: Interact with this NPC. They will offer to open the gate for a small fee of 50 gold.
• Permanent Unlock: Pay the 50 gold. This transaction will permanently open the locked door for all future runs, and you will not have to pay the fee again.

• The Heist: After the door is unlocked, you can initiate a quest with the band of bandits. You will have to pay an additional 50 gold as "insurance" to begin the heist.
• The Betrayal: At the end of the heist quest, you enter a building and fight throughseveral waves of tough enemies. After clearing the room, you discoverthat the bandits have betrayed you and already nicked the treasure, leaving you with nothing.
• The Apology: In a subsequent run, you can encounter the Bandit Leader again. He will apologize for the deception and share vague details about a hidden cave located near the Sanctuary's starting area.
