How to Unlock Rituals in Absolum

Rituals are the single most important temporary boost you can find during a run in the roguelite beat 'em up Absolum. Serving as the game's equivalent to the Boons found in titles like Hades, Rituals grant powerful elemental effects, drastically altering your combat abilities and synergy potential.However, to use a Ritual in your run, you must first unlock its elemental type. There are seven main Rituals plus a hidden Ritual of Chaos, all tied to specific progression milestones or secret locations.

Rituals Explained

• What they are: Rituals are elemental upgrades (e.g., Fire, Thunder, Necromancy) that apply powerful effects to your attacks and abilities during a run.
• How to acquire them: They are offered as a reward when you break a Crystal during a run, which typically offers you a choice between two random Rituals you've unlocked.
• Upgrades: Once you unlock Vikhana in Jaroba, she can upgrade your Ritual choices from two to three per crystal. She can also be used to permanently upgrade your Rituals, unlocking even more potent abilities, including powerful elemental combinations.

Here is the step-by-step process for finding and unlocking every Ritual in Talamh:

Ritual of Fire	Fire	Rewarded during the Prologue.	Unlocks automatically when you rescue Mother and she directs you to break your first Crystal.
Ritual of Water	Water	Found in a starting area of the Grandery.	From the start of a run, head upwards towards the Old Coast. Fight the Exiled guarding a shrine and smash the structure to unlock Water abilities.
Ritual of Wind	Wind	Found in a starting area of the Grandery.	From the start of a run, head towards the trees to enter the Giggling Forest. Fight through the area to reach a bridge, where the Ritual is waiting to be smashed.
Ritual of Thunder	Thunder	Found in the first region's dungeon.	Make it past the Grandery's first mini-boss and reach the Underking's Castle. Instead of entering the castle, head downwards to find The Old Mines. Push forward until you find and smash the chained Ritual.
Ritual of Bramble	Bramble	Unlocks automatically by reaching the second region.	This Ritual is almost unmissable. Simply make it to the game's second region, Jaroba. Keep heading forward until you see the usual big crystal and smash it.
Ritual of Necromancy	Necromancy	Found in the secret fourth region, Yeldrim.	Requires access to Yeldrim (the secret fourth region, randomly accessed when sailing for Jaroba). Once there, keep heading forward until you find the Chained Ritual. Defeat the enemies and break the structure.
Ritual of Time	Time	Rewarded for beating the "final" boss.	You must reach the final boss of Asterios, Sun King Azra, and defeat him. The Ritual of Time is revealed and unlocked for future runs only after you defeat Azra for good.

The Secret Ritual of Chaos

The Ritual of Chaos is undoubtedly the trickiest and last elemental power you will find, as it requires you to navigate a complex secret path in the game'stoughest region, Yeldrim.

To unlock this powerful and strange ability set, follow these steps:

1. Reach the Yeldrim Safe Zone

• You must successfully navigate to the secret region of Yeldrim.
• Fight your way through the region until you reach the area's first safe zone.

2. Enter the Mansion

• This safe zone offers two paths: one leading down and one leading through a mansion.
• Choose to go through the mansion. You will need to use the correct emote password to gain entry: a thumbs down followed by a thumbs up.

3. Navigate to the Hearthroot

• Fight your way through the challenging encounters within the mansion until you reach a second safe zone that contains a Hearthroot (where you can rest and save).

4. Find the Secret Passage

• From this second safe zone, head to the right.
• You will see a statue with a set of stairs.
• Go behind the statue to discover a secret passage leading to one of the game's most difficult combat areas.

5. Defeat The Interloper

• Battle your way through all the enemies in this new, high-challenge area.
• The path culminates in a boss fight against The Interloper, one of Absolum's most formidable challenges.

6. Unlock the Ritual

• Once you successfully take down The Interloper, you will find and unlock the Ritual of Chaos, gaining access to its strange set of powers for all future runs.
