This article covers how to baby proof your home in The Sims 4.

Baby proofing your home in The Sims 4 is a necessity for any parent, whether or not you have a toddler in your household. Not only will baby proofing help keep your children safe, but it can also help prevent unwanted visitors from entering your home. In this article, we will provide a guide to baby proofing your home in The Sims 4, including how to lock doors and gates, as well as additional methods of safety.

Locking Doors and Gates

Doors and gates are the most obvious way to prevent toddlers from wandering off or unwanted visitors from entering your home. To select and lock a door or gate in The Sims 4, simply select the door or gate, click on the Lock option, and choose from one of the lock types; either Open, Closed, or Locked. Open allows your Sims to freely pass through, Closed allows them to enter, but not leave, and Locked, obviously, does not allow anyone to pass.

In The Sims 4, you can also purchase the In the (Safety) Zone Baby Fence, which creates an invisible barrier that toddlers cannot pass through. The nearest adult Sim can deactivate the fence by clicking on it, allowing the toddler to pass through, or the fence can be reactivated with the same method.

As mentioned above, the In the (Safety) Zone Baby Fence is an effective way to keep toddlers in line, but this isn't the only way. Unfortunately, toddlers have the ability to escape even the most baby proofed areas. They can climb on furniture and get to places that they shouldn't. So, while baby proofing is important, it is also important to keep an eye on toddlers as they explore your home.

In addition, there are many objects that don't include baby proofing, such as fireplaces, pools, and hot tubs. To prevent toddlers from getting too close to these objects, it is best to keep them away from these areas, or get child-safe versions of the objects.

Additional Methods

While locking doors and gates and using the In the (Safety) Zone Baby Fence are great ways to prevent toddlers from wandering off, there are a few other methods you can use to baby proof your home.

Locking doors or gates by traditional means, such as using a key, is also a great way to prevent unwanted visitors from entering your home. You can also prohibit Sims from entering or exiting a certain location by using the Prohibit option in The Sims 4. This option is found under the Interactions tab and is a great way to keep your children safe.

Baby proofing your home in The Sims 4 is an important step in keeping your children safe. By following the steps outlined in this article, you can ensure that your home is as secure as possible. From locking doors and gates, to purchasing the In the (Safety) Zone Baby Fence, to prohibiting Sims from entering or exiting certain areas, you can provide your children with a safe and secure environment.
