Where to Place Gravity Sensor in The Alters

In Act 2 of The Alters, players face a crucial task: crafting and placing a Gravity Sensor. However, the game doesn't always provide clear directions on its exact placement. This guide is designed to assist you through the entire process, from crafting the sensor to placing it, and dealing with any anomalies guarding the location, ensuring Jan and his team of Alters can continue their adventure.

The Alters: Where to Place Gravity Sensor

First things first, you'll need to craft the Gravity Sensor. This can be done at the Workshop and requires the following materials:

• 50 Metals
• 20 Minerals

Crafting the sensor takes two hours of in-game time.With the Gravity Sensor crafted, follow these steps to reach its designated placement spot, which is a high point the Scientist referenced:

Exit Your Base: Head out of your base.

Immediate High Climb: Immediately take the High Climb located right by your base.

Second High Climb (Right Turn): After ascending the first climb, take an immediate right turn up another High Climb.

Follow the Path: Continue to follow the path straight ahead.

Final High Climb: You will then find a third High Climb that you need to scale to reach the very top of the canyon in The Alters Act 2, which is where the Scientist intends for the sensor to be placed.

Important Preparations for Climbing:

To successfully reach this high point, ensure you have:

• Enhanced Climbing Tool: You must have crafted the enhanced version of the climbing tool.Without it, you won't be able to interact with or scale "High Climbs."Make sure to get this tool as soon as it becomes available; it's vitalfor this quest and generally useful for planet exploration.
• Plenty of Suit Batteries: The journey involves significant climbing, which consumes suit battery power.
• "Cheaper Climbing" Research Unlocked: This research is highly recommended as it reduces the energy cost formedium and high climbs by 50%, saving you crucial battery life.
• Energy Walls: Be aware that there are also Energy Walls blocking parts of the path up. These will drain your suit battery. It's advisable to carry a good few spare suit batteries to navigate both the climbs and these energy barriers.

Post-Placement Recommendation:

Once you have successfully placed the Gravity Sensor at the top of the canyon, it is highly recommended that you immediately place a Fast Travel pylon as close to it as possible and connect it back to your base. You will need to return to this location later in Act 2, and setting up a fast travel point will save precious time as the hostile sun beginsto get closer.

With the Gravity Sensor placed, you will need to return to the Scientist. They will then instruct you to craft two Neutralizer Towers in the Workshop, each costing 160 Metals and 160 Minerals. If your current resource supply isn't robust, your next priority should be mining for more metals and minerals with your Alters.
