Eliminating these anomalies is essential for safe and free traversal. This guide explains how to destroy anomalies in The Alters.

The Alters: How To Destroy Anomalies

You won't possess the immediate capability or the necessary tool to destroy anomalies from the outset. Instead, you'll need to progress through a specific questline that introduces you to the means of eliminating them.

Encountering Anomalies and the "Strange Phenomena" Quest:

• During Act 1, you will first encounter these anomalies, which triggers the side quest "Strange Phenomena."
• This quest will prompt you to find someone who might have knowledge about these entities.

Create and Consult Jan Scientist:

• At this juncture, if you haven't already, you'll need to create the Jan Scientist Alter.
• Once Jan Scientist joins your team, speak with them about your initial findings regarding the anomalies.
• Jan Scientist will direct you to conduct further research on them.

Research the Distorted Anomaly:

• Head to the northern part of the map, specifically close to the Organics Deposit.
• Here, you will find a distorted anomaly. Interact with it to study it and gather more data.
• After studying it, report your new findings back to Jan Scientist.

Creating the Luminator

Upon receiving your updated findings, Jan Scientist will be able to devise a solution.

Research Internal Analysis Tool:

• Jan Scientist will then ask you to research the Internal Analysis Tool in your research tab.
• Once this research is complete, return to Jan Scientist.

Craft the Luminator:

• Jan Scientist will reveal their brilliant invention: the Luminator.
• Head to your Workshop module in your base to fabricate this tool.
• Materials Required: You will need 20x Rapidium and 20x Metal to craft the Luminator.

The Luminator is yoursolution. It can effectively destroy all the anomalies you encounterearly in the game, granting you free access to previously blocked areasfor exploration and resource gathering.

How To Use the Luminator

Using the Luminator is straightforward, but requires managing its power.

• Aim and Fire: Whenever you encounter an anomaly, aim the Luminator at its core.You'll need to charge it up briefly before firing a shot. A successfulhit will destroy the anomaly from a safe distance.
• Charge Consumption: Be mindful that each shot fired from the Luminator drains almost one whole bar of your available charge. This means it's best to use the item sparingly to avoid running out of charge when you truly need it.
• ALX Material Cores: Every anomaly you destroy will drop ALX material cores. These are extremely useful as they can be refined into other valuablematerials, making anomaly destruction a source of resources.
• Luminator Upgrades: Later in the game, you will unlock the ability to research upgrades for the Luminator. These upgrades will enhance the tool's effectiveness,making it even more potent at taking down a wider variety of anomaliesyou come across.
