What You Need to Know About Food in The Alters

The Alters features two types of prepared dishes: Cooked Meals and Mush. To begin food production, you'll need to construct two essential base modules:

Greenhouse: This module is where you grow the raw produce (Raw Food).

Kitchen: This module is where you process raw ingredients into consumable meals.

How To Grow Raw Food

Once you have built the Greenhouse module in your base, you can start cultivating raw food. Growing Raw Food requires Organics and a specific amount of in-game time.

• 1x Raw Food: Requires 10x Organics and 1 hour of in-game time.
• 10x Raw Food: Requires 50x Organics and 16 hours of in-game time.
  • Efficiency Upgrade: If you research the Efficient Food technology, the time needed for 10x Raw Food production will decrease to 12 hours.
• Staffing the Greenhouse: Raw Food growth only occurs when the Greenhouse is actively staffed by an Alter.
  • Botanist Jan: Assigning a Botanist Jan to the Greenhouse will double the production rate.
  • Production Interruption: Raw Food production will cease during breaks in shifts when no Alter is assigned to the Greenhouse.

The Alters: How To Make Food

After collecting a sufficient supply of Raw Food from your Greenhouse, you can bring it to the Kitchen module for preparation. It's crucial to maintain the Kitchen and prepare foodproperly, as neglecting this can lead to food poisoning and a decreasein your Alters' morale.

Here's how to prepare the two types of dishes:

• Mush:
  • Ingredients: 5x Organics
  • Preparation Time: 30 minutes of in-game time.
  • Mush provides basic sustenance but doesn't offer morale benefits and is generally considered less ideal.
• Cooked Meal:
  • Ingredients: 1x Raw Food
  • Preparation Time: 20 minutes of in-game time.
  • Morale Boost: Cooked Meals are significantly better for your Alters' morale.
  • Requirement: Since Cooked Meals require Raw Food, you can only begin preparing themeffectively once your Greenhouse operations are properly established and producing a steady supply.
  • Doctor Jan: Assigning a Doctor Jan to the Kitchen is highly beneficial, as they can cook meals 50% quicker.
