To shoot in Rematch:

Aim: Use the Right Stick (controller) or Mouse (PC) to aim at the goal.

Shoot: Press or hold down the Right Trigger (controller) or Left Mouse Button (PC).

• Holding the shoot button temporarily delays the shot, allowing you to:
  • Add curve (Magnus Shoot) using the Left Stick (controller) or Mouse Drag (PC).
  • Add more power to the shot.

1. Practice Curling The Ball To Go Around The Keeper

Basic, straight shots are rarely effective against competent keepers. Rematch offers an excellent system for curving the ball.

• Practice: The in-game shooting tutorial is a great starting point for understanding this. Dedicate time in Freeplay mode (with unlimited ball access) to perfect this advanced technique.
• Key Technique: The most crucial aspect is making the ball dip downwards. Keepers typically dive to the side, so a shot that drops from above has a higher chance of beating them. Ideally, the ball should also curl in or out towards a corner, as shots into any corner are more likely to bypass the keeper.

2. Aim Above The Goals & Score The Rebound

This is a tactical approach to create an open net opportunity.

• Strategy: Purposely aim your shot high above the crossbar.
• Outcome: The goal is for the ball to bounce back out, ideally causing the keeper to commit to a dive, leaving the net open for an easy volley or header from you or a teammate.

3. Self Pass Off The Back Wall To Go Around The Keeper

If you're attacking from the sides of the goal, this trick can bypass the keeper.

• Strategy: Pass the ball off the back wall, aiming just next to the goalpost.
• Outcome: With luck, the ball will curve around the keeper, allowing you to run onto it and tap it into an open net.

4. Square The Ball To A Teammate Past The Keeper

• Strategy: Attack with at least two players. As the enemy keeper rushes out tochallenge the player with the ball, they should make a pass across thegoal to a teammate.
• Outcome: The teammate will now have an open net for an easy tap-in.
• No Offside: Rematch has no offside rule, so your teammate can be positioned further ahead without penalty.
• Passing is Key: Lob passes can also work. In general, passing is one of the best ways to score goals in Rematch.

5. Learn To Score From Crosses & Through Balls

Scoring from dynamic passes like volleys or headers might seem difficult atfirst because players often focus on the ball's origin.

• Key Adjustment: Instead, turn your player to face the goal before shooting. Adjusting camera speed to be higher can assist with this.
• Practice Method: In Freeplay, kick the ball away, then press Right Stick (controller) / Middle Mouse Button (PC) to recall the ball. This action essentially simulates a cross. Practice this repeatedly from various angles until you get the hang of turningand shooting effectively.

6. Wait For The Keeper To Dive First

While Rematch currently lacks a dedicated fake shot mechanic, you can still outwit keepers with patience.

• Strategy:
  • Hold onto the ball longer than expected, baiting the keeper into committing.
  • Power up your shot: This naturally delays the shot, giving the keeper more time to react and potentially dive prematurely.
• Effectiveness: This tactic is generally more successful against lower-skilled keepers.

7. Sneak Behind The Enemy Defense / Sometimes Stay Up Front

Rematch is a team game, and defending is important. However, the absence of anoffside rule creates opportunities for opportunistic attacking.

• Strategy: If you can slip behind the enemy defense and position yourself for a long ball, this can lead to effective "Hail Mary" plays.
• Team Consideration: Having one player linger up front is more viable in 5v5 matches, where there are more teammates available to defend.
• Defensive Awareness: As a defender, always be vigilant for opposing strikers attempting to sneak behind your backline.
• Benefit: These plays often result in one-on-one situations with the keeper, which are arguably easier to score from.

8. Doesn't Have To Be Shots, Use Slide Tackles & Passes

While the dedicated shoot button is usually best, other controls can secure goals in specific situations.

• Passing into an empty net: If the net is empty and you don't have time to turn and shoot, simply pass the ball directly into the net (passing does not require aiming).
• Slide Tackles: If the ball is loose in the penalty area or racing across goal, a well-timed slide tackle can scramble it into the net.
• Rainbow Flick: If a keeper is rushing out to tackle you, try a rainbow flick over them to bypass their challenge.

9. Use A Lob Pass To Chip The Keeper

While there isn't a dedicated "chip shot" button, you can achieve a similareffect with a lob pass when the keeper is off their line.

• Controller: Press Right Bumper + X/Square. For a lighter lob, press A/Cross simultaneously with the previous buttons.
