The Winter’s Jest event invites the community to unite in a collaborative adventure, where players must join forces to accomplish three distinct objectives:

  • Unleash the mystery of every Krampus Box you encounter.
Earn points for this event at any difficulty level, but remember, the higher the challenge, the greater the rewards! Taking on a hunt in Insanity mode is undoubtedly the most effective way to achieve significant progress in the event, though it comes with heightened risks.

During the event, you have the opportunity to tackle all of Winter’s Jest tasks across four distinct maps. Each of these maps features a present icon on the map board, is beautifully decorated for winter, and includes a Krampus ghost model roaming about. These four are the exclusive options available for you to make progress in the event.

  • Bleasdale Farmhouse: A small-scale map of 6 Tanglewood Drive
  • Maple Lodge Campsite: A medium-sized map of the Point Hope area

Your main goal during the Winter's Jest event is to correctly identify the ghosts. It's the core gameplay of Phasmophobia, so you should know how to do this process by now.


This being the case, all three types of evidence must be collected to correctly identify a ghost. In order to obtain this, all seven potential types of evidence must be investigated: Spirit Box, DOTS Projector, Ghost Writing, Ultraviolet, EMF Level Five, Freezing Temperatures, and Ghost Orbs.


While every ghost has three types of evidence, you won't always get to see all three on the higher difficulties. Sometimes you will have to rely on unique ghost behaviors and patterns to determine what kind of ghost is present.



Pay attention to the myriad of unique behaviors that come into play. When facing challenges such as No Evidence, Detectives Only, and Survival of the Fittest, these behaviors become essential, and you might already recognize them. Examples of this phenomenon are the Wraith's steadfast avoidance of Salt, the Banshee's iconic wail, and the elusive nature of Phantoms, which prevents them from being captured in photographs.

The third major objective of the Winter's Jest event is how to unlock Krampus Boxes. Find these bright red jack-in-the-box items hidden around the four different holiday maps, which include:


  • Bleasdale Farmhouse
  • 6 Tanglewood Drive
  • Point Hope
  • Maple Lodge Campsite


To open a box, simply walk up to it and interact with it to unlock what's inside. After a short period of time, the handle will spin and a Krampus head dramatically pops out. Each box you find and open gives you more progress for the event.

Although these show as three separate rewards within the event board, both stage one and two rewards are the same item; this works similar to the Blood Moon event, where the ID Card simply receives improved visuals  once stage two is completed.

Claim your Winter's Jest rewards by interacting with the grand holiday tree in the lobby once community goals are met. Once a reward is available for you to collect, the grand holiday tree will glow and sparkle with a bright yellow outline.


During the event, the tree will light up three times to grant you three awesome rewards. Any time, you can check the board in the lobby to see how close the community is to achieving the next milestone.


With each interaction you make on the tree to receive your reward, it will be an even more beautifully decorated piece with added ornaments. Don't let your rewards go to waste, including ornaments, presents, and lights!


Winter's Jest Event Period in Phasmophobia
