How to Join the Mages Guild in Oblivion Remastered

Joining the esteemed Mages Guild in Oblivion Remastered unlocks the prestigious Arcane University within the Imperial City. The initial steps to becoming a member begin immediately after your escape from the Imperial City Sewers. From this point, the world of Cyrodiil opens up, allowing you to fast travel to its various cities, most of which host their own local Mages Guild chapter. Each city's chapter is led by a Guild Master, and as a prospective member, you will need to undertake a recommendation quest from each of these leaders to gain entry to the Arcane University.

Oblivion Remastered: Join the Mages Guild

Exit the Sewers: Once you have successfully navigated your escape from the Imperial City Sewers, the vast world of Cyrodiil awaits.

Open Your Map: Access your Journal and open the world map. This will display all the cities that are currently available for fast travel.

Choose a City: With the exception of the Imperial City (which houses the Arcane University itself), most of the listed cities have their own local Mages Guild chapter. Select any city that appeals to you and fast travel to that location.

Locate the Mages Guild: Upon arriving in your chosen city, speak to a nearby city guard. Inquire about the location of the Mages Guild. The guard will typically provide directions to the guildhall.

Visit During Daytime: It is advisable to visit the Mages Guild during the day, preferably after 8:00 AM. Guild members may be asleep or unavailable during the night hours.

Speak to the Guild Master: Upon entering the Mages Guild hall, you can usually speak directly with the Guild Master of that particular chapter. Inform them of your interest in joining the Mages Guild. In most cases, you will be accepted as a member immediately upon expressing your desire to join.

Here is a list of the cities that host a Mages Guild chapter and the name of their respective Guild Master:

• Anvil: The Mages Guild is led by Carahil.
• Bravil: You will find Kud-Ei as the Mages Guild leader.
• Bruma: The guild is headed by Jeanne Frasoric.
• Cheydinhal: Falcar serves as the Mages Guild leader.
• Chorrol: The guild is led by Teekeeus.
• Leyawiin: Dagail is in charge of the Mages Guild.
• Skingrad: The leader of the guild is Adrienne Berene.

Earning Access to the Arcane University: The Recommendation Quests

Simply joining a local Mages Guild chapter is the first step. To earn yourplace at the prestigious Arcane University in the Imperial City, youwill need to prove your dedication and competence to the wider guild.This is achieved by completing a recommendation quest from the Guild Master of each of the seven city-based Mages Guilds listed above.

Each city's Mages Guild offers its own unique recommendation quest. You will need to travel to each of these cities, join their local chapter (ifyou haven't already), and successfully complete the recommendation quest assigned by their Guild Master. Only upon the successful completion ofall seven recommendation quests will you be granted access to the Arcane University in the Imperial City.

Perks of Mages Guild Membership:

Upon becoming a member of the Mages Guild in any city, you will be granted a Mages Guild Key. This key provides you with access to both the Library and the Living Quarters within any of the Mages Guild halls across Cyrodiil.

The Living Quarters offer a particularly useful perk: they provide a bed where you can rest, recover, and level up your character's attributes.This makes the Mages Guild halls convenient and safe havens during yourtravels.

Another notable benefit of Mages Guild membership is the freedom to take any items found within the guildhalls. This includes a variety of useful objects such as books (which canprovide valuable lore and sometimes skill increases), crystal balls,alchemical ingredients, and other miscellaneous items. You can then sell these acquired items to other guild NPCs for some extra Gold, providing a steady source of income for aspiring mages.
