Upon entering Underpall Cave, your primary objective is to track down the corrupted spirit of Lord Vlindrel, who holds the Sword of the Crusader. If you previously accepted Sir Lathon into the Knights of the Nine, he will bravely accompany you on this perilous endeavor, offering his aid in combat.Underpall Cave is a sprawling complex, but thankfully, your immediate focus is on navigating through three specific sections. From the main entrance, your path is as follows:Confronting Lord Vlindrel: The Guardian of the Blade
Once inside the eerie ReflectingChamber, you'll observe two distinct paths ahead. Each offers adifferent approach to your confrontation with Lord Vlindrel:
- The Left Path (Direct but Dangerous): This route is quicker and more direct, but it is typically fraught with enemies. Along this path, you will also discover the unfortunateremains of Sir Roderic, adding a somber note to your quest.
- The Right Path (Longer but Safer): This alternative takes a more circuitous route, winding around thearea. While it requires more time, it often allows for a stealthierapproach, potentially enabling you to sneak up to the far end of theroom where Lord Vlindrel awaits.
Regardless of the path you choose, a direct confrontation with Lord Vlindrel’s Wraith is inevitable. This spectral entity must be defeated to claim the Sword of the Crusader. Exercise caution during this battle: if LordVlindrel's Wraith falls too close to the central pool of water in thechamber, there's a risk that the sword, upon dropping, could sink intothe water, making it considerably more difficult to retrieve. Ensure you defeat him on solid ground if possible.
The Curse of the Crusader: A Blade Awaiting Purity
Once you have successfully defeated Lord Vlindrel's Wraith, the Sword of the Crusader will drop. However, do NOT equip it immediately. The blade is under a powerful curse.
