It was about time that Microsoft HoloLens were updated, because it was not done since they went on sale three years ago, sincerely a surprisingly long time. The creator of this device, Alex Kipman, after announcing that Microsoft at the Mobile World Congress will talk about the second version of augmented reality glasses, is interesting news.

Alex Kipman published a promotional video that just gives specific information of the Microsoft HoloLens 2. The trailer shows interesting information, where you can highlight the use of carbon fiber to achieve a lighter model of these glasses.

It is evident that the HoloLens 2 have to overcome great expectations, due to the little triumph that the first model could obtain, precisely because it was oriented to professional use, with a price so high that simply an average customer would not get access to those glasses.

It is expected that the processor is the important element that I managed this time to give the success that the company hopes to obtain, thanks to a better graphic power and a very good NPU to perform the calculations of artificial intelligence.

An Intel Atom Cherry Trail 1GHz SoC (the Atom x5-Z8100 provided the main CPU) was used for the original HoloLens that went on sale a few years ago and had a coprocessor, nicknamed HPU. The silicon combined 24 Tensilica DSP cores and an 8 MB cache in a single package, along with 1 GB of DDR3.

After Intel discontinued the low power SoC Atom that were used for the HoloLents project, ARM ends up being the only likely alternative to generate the necessary power.

It is not known if the investigations into the IA cores and the silicon solution that Microsoft was working on a few years ago are still underway.

The main rumors suggested that internal hardware of the HoloLents 2 would be the Qualcomm XR1, but Engadget now hints that it could be a Snapdragon 850.

Through this video, Alex Kipman also reminded the community that these augmented reality glasses would be presented on February 24, 2019, the date on which the event hosted by Microsoft will take place.

There really is very little that is known about Microsoft HoloLens 2, something that leads us to wait a bit to fully know the details of this device that will be presented at the MWC. Among the information that most want to know is the price, because the previous device cost $ 3,000 and therefore the public could not obtain a Microsoft HoloLens.
