How to Unlock Secret Theater Films

Unlocking the Secret Theater films requires a specific, non-lethal approach. Each film is a small reel carried by a single, specific guard in a given area. To claim the film, you must hold the guard up and get them to drop it without harming them.

• Hold Up the Guard: Get behind the guard with the film reel and use CQC (Close Quarters Combat) to hold them up. You will know if you have the right guard because they will often have a visible film reel canister on their person.
• Get the Film: Once you have the guard held up, aim your weapon at their head or another sensitive area (like the groin) to make them drop the film reel.
• Do Not Attack: If you shoot, stab, or otherwise harm the guard, you will permanently destroy the film reel, forcing you to reload an earlier save. Be extremely careful with your aim.

All 15 Secret Theater Film Reel Locations

Here is a complete list of all the Secret Theater film reels, organized by their location in the game's story.

Virtuous Mission

• "The Beginning is the End" - Dremuchij North: This film is located on the very first guard you encounter in the game. He is patrolling the bridge. Be careful not to shoot the hornet's nestabove him, as this will destroy the reel.
• "Gotcha This Time!" - Dolinovodno: The next reel is on a guard patrolling the large suspension bridge. You must cross the bridge and take him down from behind to secure the film.

Operation Snake Eater

• "Get Down!" - Bolshaya Past South: This reel is found on one of the two guards patrolling near a largehole in the electrified fence. Take out the other guard, then sneak upon the one with the reel.
• "Payback" - Bolshaya Past Base: In this area, the reel is carried by a guard patrolling the path at the top of the ramparts. Approach with caution and hold him up.
• "Cat-Like Behavior" - Ponizovje West: This is an optional area along the river after you have defeated ThePain. The reel is carried by one of two guards in this area. The one onthe right is the target.
• "The Quick Version" - Ponizovje Warehouse: This film is found on a guard who patrols the catwalk inside thewarehouse. You will have to sneak up to the higher level to get it.
• "The Joy" - Graniny Gorki Lab Exterior: Outside Walls: This is a tricky one. The reel is on a guard who is usually inside thelab's antechamber. First, knock out the two patrolling guards and thedog. Then, knock on the door to the "Inside Walls" area to draw theguard out, giving you an opening to hold him up.
• "Metal Gear S..." - Svyatogornyj East: The film is found on an officer inside a small cabin in the back rightcorner of the area. Sneak up to the door and be ready to hold him up assoon as you enter.
• "Diehard" - Krasnogorje Mountain Base: This reel is on an officer standing on a small cliff along the rightwall of the area. You can reach him by entering a small hole in thecliffside.
• "The Ultimate Weapon" - Krasnogorje Mountaintop: This film reel is easily missed as it only appears on your second visit to this area. Be sure to return and hold up the guard to get it.

Groznyj Grad and Escape

• "Made in the USA" - Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: West Wing Corridor: The reel is on a guard in this long corridor.
• "Basashi" - Groznyj Grad Torture Room: This reel appears after the torture scene. It is held by one of the guards in this room.
• "Close Call" - Groznyj Grad Northeast: Another missable reel, this one only appears on your second visit to Groznyj Grad.
• "He's Still Got It" - Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: Main Wing: This film also only appears on your second visit to Groznyj Grad.
• "Metal Gear Raiden: Snake Eraser" - Zaozyorje East: This final film reel is found during the escape sequence on one of the guards in this area.

Important Tips for Collectors

• Test Your Targets: If you're unsure which guard has the film reel, save your game and then run through the area, non-lethally taking down each guard. When youtake down the right one, you will hear a loud, distinct noise as thefilm is destroyed. Reload your save, and you'll know exactly who yourtarget is.
• Reloading Saves: You only need to collect each film reel once. You can grab the reel, immediately reload your save,and it will still be unlocked. This allows you to avoid messy situations and keep your game stats clean.
• Multi-Tasking: TheSecret Theater films are not required to earn the Platinum trophy, butthey are a fantastic reason to take your time and explore each area. You can hunt for other collectibles, such as Kerotan frogs and animals,while you search for the film reels.
