It is one of the six trading skills that you will be able to unlock while playing the game. These types of trade skills are how you get some of the resources that you will have to find if you want to make a dent in the crafting. How to unlock excavatign in Lost Ark?
To be able to access this ability the first thing you have to do is to get to West Luterra, where you will have to go to Lakebar to access the mission "Crown of Lakebar". Once you have completed the mission you will be able to access all 6 skills, including the digging skill. However, in order to use it you will have to go to NPC Nickel in Lakebar Village to buy his digging tools for beginners, otherwise you won't be able to use it.
When you have the tools you will have to click on the B key on your keyboard to access the trade skills menu, which swaps the combat skills for the trade skills in the quick access bar.
To dig you will need the relic search skill and the sonar, as long as there are some relics in the region you are in. You can verify the latter by accessing the map. If there is a relic available what you have to do is activate the sonar to see a blue icon over your character, which will radiate blue waves as you get closer to the relic, indicating that you are close.
