The Bloody Cipher Machine is a captivating side quest in the newly released Lies of P: Overture DLC (released on June 6, 2025). Completing this puzzle-driven quest rewards you with a valuable item. The quest begins after you defeat a specific boss and acquire a unique machine. You'll then need to decipher a clue, locate a hidden object, and report back to a familiar NPC.This guide will walk you through each step to finish the Bloody Cipher Machine quest and acquire the Whirlwind Amulet.

1. How to Find the Bloody Cipher Machine

The very first step is to acquire the Bloody Cipher Machine itself, which is a key item.

• Defeat the Two-Faced Overseer Boss: The Bloody Cipher Machine is a guaranteed drop from the Two-Faced Overseer boss. This formidable foe is located in the Elixir Research Zone within the Overture DLC. He is a tough opponent who wields a massive battle axe and becomes even more dangerous when enraged, exhibiting faster and more brutal attacks in his "Red Form."
• Rewards: Upon defeating the Two-Faced Overseer, you will be rewarded with the Full Moonstone of the Covenant, rare Ergo (which is always valuable for leveling and trading), and crucially, the Bloody Cipher Machine.
• Decryption: Once you have the machine, return to the Eventide Hotel. Locate and talk to the Tracker NPC. Select the option to "Decrypt a cipher machine." After the decoding process, you will be shown a picture, which is your clue: a stuffed crocodile.

2. How to Solve the Bloody Cipher Machine Puzzle

With the clue in hand, your next objective is to find the stuffed crocodile.

• Head to the Hall of Adventure: This area is within the Overture DLC.
• Navigate to the Crocodile: Once in the Hall of Adventure, proceed straight up the stairs. At the top, turn left, and enter the first door you see.
• Interact with the Crocodile: Inside this room, you will find the stuffed crocodile that was depicted in the decrypted image. Walk up to the crocodile display. You should see a prompt to "Press the button." Hit this button.
• Acquire the Report: Pressing the button will reward you with a collectible item called Confession: Crocodile Necropsy Report. This is the key item needed to complete the quest.
• Report Back to the Tracker: With the report in hand, return to the Eventide Hotel and talk to the Tracker NPC once more.
• Complete the Quest: Choose the first dialogue option, "Report on the Dark Secrets." This action will officially wrap up the Bloody Cipher Machine quest.

Reward: The Whirlwind Amulet

As a reward for successfully completing the Bloody Cipher Machine quest, you will receive the Whirlwind Amulet.
