Should you paint the bull or rat out Prochek in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Discover the dilemma in KCD2: Should you paint the bull or rat out Prochek?Early in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Innkeeper Prochek in Tachov gives you the "Mice" side quest to paint Landowner Olbram's bull in Zhelejov. However, you have a choice: complete the "Mice" quest or rat out Prochek, which leads to the "Frogs" quest. This guide explains the consequences and rewards of each path to help you decide which is better.

Mice Quest (Painting the Bull):

Gather Information: Speak to Radovan the Blacksmith in Tachov to learn about a Lullaby Potion.

Acquire Ingredients:

• Red Dye: Buy from Tailor Bartoshek in Troskowitz (60 Groschen, or free with high Speech).
• Poppy: Found east of Troskowitz in the garden.
• Thistle: Found south of the Apothecary in Troskowitz.
• Herb Paris: Buy from the Apothecary in Troskowitz.
• Oil: Can be looted or bought.

Craft Lullaby Potion: Use an Alchemy Bench with this recipe:

• Oil in the cauldron.
• Add Poppy, flip hourglass.
• Add Thistle, flip hourglass.
• Grind Herb Paris, add to cauldron.
• Pour into vial.

Paint the Bull:

• Go to Zhelejov and enter the barn.
• Pour the Lullaby Potion into the Stone Trough (be careful not to use too much, as it can kill the bull).
• After the bull falls asleep (a few in-game hours), paint it.

Reward: Return to Prochek for 85 Groschen and some Reputation.

Frogs Quest (Ratting Out Prochek):

Inform Olbram: TellOlbram about Prochek's plan. This fails the "Mice" quest and starts"Frogs." Olbram wants you to steal the Maypole from Tachov.

Stealing the Maypole (Two Options):

• Luring Henik Away:
  • Talk to Henik at the Maypole. He's smitten with Manka.
  • Offer to cover his guard duty so he can meet her.
  • Sleep until morning. Find Manka in the Tachov tavern.
  • Tell her you're watching the Maypole so she and Henik can go on a date.
  • Sleep until night. Tell Henik Manka agreed. Wait until he's gone.
  • Climb and take the Maypole.
• Knocking Out Henik:
  • Talk to Prochek about the Maypole (use Speech checks). He'll ask you to beat up Henik.
  • At night, go to the Maypole and talk to Henik. Ask about his brothers and when he plans to leave.
  • He'll get angry and attack you. Knock him out.
  • Take the Maypole.

Additional Objectives (Optional but Recommended):

• Nuisance at Tachov:
  • Buy a Digestive Potion from the Alchemist.
  • At 8 AM, add it to the food being prepared in the Tachov tavern.
  • At 2 PM, go to the sheep farm. Alshik won't be there.
  • Push six sheep into the western forest.
  • (Optional) Push a sheep near the laundry to soil it (loses Tachov reputation).

Reward: Return to Olbram with the Maypole for 175 Groschen.

Which Path is Better?

The Frogs quest is significantly better due to higher rewards (175 Groschen vs. 85 Groschen) and additionalcontent (the optional nuisance objective). While the "Mice" quest issimpler, the reward is comparatively low.

Recommendation:

Rat out Prochek to unlock the "Frogs" quest. The extra effort is well worth the increased rewards and additional gameplay.
