Players should know that Hyper Light Breaker has a lot of resources, and without one of the rarest, Golden Rations, you simply can't get some of the most important upgrades in the game.

But one of the big mistakes in Hyper Light Breaker is a complete misunderstanding of what materials and resources are, let alone where and how to find them. Because it's a roguelike, you can expect to figure out some things through experimentation, but in case you do not want to spend time testing your theory, here's how to better find Golden Rations.

Where to Find Golden Rations in Hyper Light Breaker?

Between Exploration and Cycle Resets, these two methods are how you're mostly going to acquire Golden Rations as of early access release version. As you're on the go for a run, spot the chest icons on the map. More often than not, these contain items you can use to purchase stuff or unlock upgrades; rarely do they contain Golden Rations. If a chest has the Golden Ration icon on it, this means it contains rations.

Areas around Golden Ration chests normally have Prisms, marked by the golden diamond icon on the map.

Or you can wait for the cycle to reset or force a restart; when your Rez count goes to zero, the Overgrowth resets to its starting point, known as a cycle. When you finally run out of all your revives, you have two options in the Cursed Outpost: to simply restart the map for resources or to reset the cycle altogether. You will be scored after each cycle elapses. If your score is enough to level you up, you'll be rewarded with something called Golden Rations.

Golden Rations: What Are They Good For?

The loop of progression within Hyper Light Breaker will involve gathering different commodities, from Golden Rations to others. Once you've stocked up enough, for example, Golden Rations, you can use them in base to unlock permanent character upgrades or new vendor services.

With Golden Rations, you can also buy Sycoms. The stats and main passive of your selected breaker will be determined with these items, and because it will determine how your breaker plays, sycoms are very valuable and useful.

First things first, when you get your first Golden Ration, be sure to get the extra medkit upgrade from Pherus Bit; this will make subsequent runs at least a little easier since the game is very punishing if you make mistakes in combat.

Anything you find while on a run, you get to keep, even if you die on said run. The guns, amps, and perks you took in with you will take one pip of damage, which may render them unusable for a very long time.
