How To Build A Monastery in Foundation

In Foundation, constructing a Monastery is essential for players pursuing the Clergy path. This guide provides a detailed walkthrough of the process.

Unlocking the Monastery Great Hall:

Before you can build any Monastery structures, you must unlock the Monastery Great Hall. This is achieved by reaching Progression level 12 and unlocking it via the Progression menu.

Foundation: How To Build A Monastery

Boost Clergy Splendor and Influence: Increase Clergy Splendor and Influence by adding decorative elements to your existing buildings. Decorations that increase Splendor are markedwith a small star icon. This is crucial for unlocking and constructinghigher-tier Monastery buildings.

Access the Build Menu: Open the build menu and select the "Monastery" category.

Choose a Structure: Select the Monastery building you wish to construct. Consider your current needs and available resources.

Check Requirements:Before placing the building, examine the bottom-right menu of thebuilding selection screen. This menu displays the specific requirementsfor the chosen structure (e.g., a herb garden might require a production structure and a resource depot).

Fulfilling Requirements:

• Unbuilt required parts are indicated by a red exclamation mark.
• Completed parts are marked with a green checkmark.
• Build any missing required structures before attempting to place the Monastery building.

Room Type Building:Select a "Room" type building as the base for your Monastery structure.Choose a structure that only requires materials you currently possess.

Interior Access Sub-Building: Add an "Interior Access" sub-building to the "Room" type building. This is essential for functionality.

Visitor Location (Great Hall Only): If you are building the Monastery Great Hall, you must also place a "Visitor Location" marker. This is not required for other Monastery structures.

Place the Building: Once all requirements are met, place the Monastery building in your desired location.

Edit Building (Post-Construction): After construction, you can modify sub-buildings using the "Edit Building" button (indicated by a hammer icon).

Important Considerations:

• One Great Hall per Faction: You can only have one Great Hall per faction. Building a MonasteryGreat Hall prevents you from building Kingdom or Labour Great Halls, and vice-versa. This choice is made during the map setup phase.
• Building Stages: Monastery buildings, like other faction buildings, are constructed instages. You may need to add additional rooms and sub-buildings to fullycomplete the structure.
