Discover How to beat Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors Origins with our detailed guide today.

If you are looking for a challenging gatekeeper, look no further than Lu Bu from Dynasty Warriors Origins. Along with Zhang Jiao, he's one of the few actual bosses in this game. Depending on your level, your weapons, and your skill set, you'll have a number of different options when it comes to this boss. Having lost to the boss for several hours, this is how I fought him. His tactics appear to remain the same for all difficulties.

This fight is really going to be a headache if you don't know how to duck and parry, as it really pushes your combat skills to the limit. Here are some tips for defeating Lu Bu-an enemy with more strikes than in the Dynasty Warriors Origins demo.

How to beat Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors Origins?

Lu Bu, whose name is Fengxian, is the greatest warrior in Dynasty Warriors Origins and, by extension, the Late Han Period. It took more than one general to bring him down; in the end, he was defeated and executed. But parrying and avoiding take practice. Make use of Parrying when necessary; it breaks a portion of his guard, and Dodging boosts your Bravery.

Just a heads up, unless you're playing on Historian difficulties you really shouldn't try to guard attacks with a big red slash or you risk eating damage if you don't.

Actually, this has absolutely nothing to do with defeating Lu Bu at the Battle of Xiapi. You can usually just ignore him as he rages across the battlefield, but it does make things take a little longer. When you complete the stage, you'll end up fighting Lu Bu in a sort of one-on-one battle.

The other generals coming with you aren't really bringing a whole lot to the table. To you, they are little more than transport carriers for taking on tank damage. Having a counter-attacking skill like Stunning Palm or Arrow attacks helps as well, but having two of those skills is much better. Be alert for those prompts since this is your opportunity to cancel some of Lu Bu's moves.

As your assault attacks against Lü Bu get stronger and his defenses weaker, the fight takes a few different turns. What happened at Hulao Gate and the Battle of Xiapi constitutes Phase 1. He simply mounts his horse and gallops around, brandishing his weapon.

Anything that can hit multiple times in this fight will be super useful. What really makes the Wheels stand out for me, though, are the great multi-hit skills. First playthrough, I used the Guandao, though. For now, just dodge his strikes and chip at him nonstop until he stuns up.

Well timed it will stun him right before charging and swinging said polearm but it's pretty close so you have a very small margin of error. When fighting against Lu Bu as a boss in Dynasty Warriors Origins, this will stop him, making it far easier to get in some free damage. When you get through the first half of his shields, Lu Bu will acknowledge you, and leap down from his steed, Red Hare. This phase has a bunch of powerful attacks that are to be taken with a proper dodging or parrying.

  • Lu Bu makes a circle around himself of erupting, crimson energy lines in a colossal wave of explosions. To survive this and not take any damage, you can either parry or forward dash the attack to avoid it. If you're close enough, there's a prompt that will show which skill to use to counter this.
  • Lu Bu charges forward and strikes only once, but a powerful blow after a moment of red glow. This is best avoided.
  • You may guard, parry, or dodge Lu Bu's massive melee strikes in this phase.
  • Lu Bu performs an aerial dive strike where he leaps into the air and, after a brief moment, releases a dive bomb angledly. Be very cautious to not get hit by it, but know that it is blockable with the correct attack.

You will have to use his attacks to fill up Bravery in Dynasty Warriors Origins and unleash devastating multi-hit attacks on Lu Bu. So you can get an assault strike in after he's guarded. During Phase 2, he mostly uses melee attacks with a large red arc, which he can combine for larger chains of hits. Try to slow him down by taking advantage of any opportunities to stun, disrupt, or evade him.

Even when I was fully blocking his attacks in Phase 3, stopping his momentum, the whole feel was the same, really. You can use moves such as Cavalry Charge and Fire Arrows in order to whittle down his defense. His dashing attack now contains a Grapple Mechanic and hits way harder, so it will reset on another guard break.

He can now aggressively charge from high altitude and create an area-of-effect explosion. This can be easily countered by jumping and hitting the bubble directly in front of him. Still, Dynasty Warriors Origins has more Lu Bu in store. You should just keep using tactics and multi-strike attacks to crack his defenses.

The fourth stage of Lu Bu's Lu Bu drop Attack in Dynasty Warriors Origins is no longer an angled drop but a straight drop. Splash damage is way more destructive, too. You can now parry and deflect his long arcing energy beams that he releases with his melee strikes as well. The signature Explosive Wave seals this combo. You can dodge them all day, but it won't solve anything.

By the time the Lu Bu fight concludes he's on fire red and continually charges across the screen. While this hits very hard it's not quite as excruciating as his final, desperate attack. Lu Bu no longer takes damage, and his guards refill when he reaches around 5% of his health.

You might of saw that red Musou Meter before, well he's got that. Hes going to use his True Ultimate Musou, probably one shotting you unless you are REALLY strong, if you don't break his guard before its filled. He does this ad infinitum until defeated, defeating him progresses the storyline for Dynasty Warriors Origins so that finally, Lu Bu can be beaten.

In this sense, knowing How to beat Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors Origins, allows you to eliminate this adversary and continue enjoying the journey that the game offers you, try it.
