An opening attack is a single hit with the most powerful strike possible, so to bring him down fast, you will want to open him up as much as possible.
Once you have defeated Shadow Zhang Jiao, the shadows disappear and you are given some time to head back towards Sun Jian. If Huang Gai can return to Sun Jian, then a movie will play where the Sun family general falls and your mission objectives change to get Sun Ce to the escape point. Once you have won, you will re-engage with Sun Jian in an all-time advance towards the conquest of the army of Liu Biao.
