Discover how to get a buggy in Dune Awakening with our comprehensive guide. Master the desert and enhance your gameplay today!
The Buggy in Dune: Awakening is a specialized land vehicle designed for heavy-duty mining operations and large-scale supply runs. While it's slower and more cumbersome to drive compared to the nimble Sandbike or the aerial Ornithopter, its immense storage capacity makes it an invaluable asset for resource gathering. With a standard Buggy offering 1500v of storage, it's a game-changer for players looking to haul tons of materials without constant trips back to base, a significant upgrade from the backpack's 175v capacity. Here's how to craft and utilize this essential vehicle.
Dune Awakening: How to Get a Buggy
To acquire a Buggy, you'll need to unlock its components through Research and craft them at a specialized fabricator.
Unlocking Buggy Recipes via Research
- Players can unlock the Buggy Mk3 Assembly, Buggy Cutteray Mk3, and Buggy Storage Mk3 after reaching the Steel tier in Research.
- Spending Intel points in the Research tree will unlock the following individual Buggy recipes:
- Buggy Rear
- Buggy Chassis
- Buggy Hull
- Buggy Engine
- Buggy PSU
- Buggy Tread
- Buggy Storage (Optional - adds extra storage)
- Buggy Cutteray (Optional - adds mining laser)
- Buggy Utility Rear (Optional - adds mining turret station)
- Buggy Booster (Optional - for speed)
Note: You must choose between a
Buggy Rear (adds extra passenger seats) or a
Buggy Utility Rear (adds a mining turret station); both cannot be installed simultaneously.
How to Make a Vehicle Fabricator
Buggy components, along with other vehicle parts, can only be crafted at a Vehicle Fabricator. This specialized machine also needs to be unlocked via Research and requires the following materials to craft:
- Steel Ingots x40: Produced by combining Iron Ingots, Carbon Ore, and Water at a Small Ore Refinery.
- Complex Machinery x30: Primarily obtained from special Points of Interest (POIs) found in the Vermillius Gap and later, more advanced areas.
All Buggy Mk3 Components (Total Resource Requirement)
To craft a complete Buggy Mk3 from scratch, including its various parts, the total resources you'll need are:
| Resource | Amount |
| Water | 1390 |
| Steel Ingot | 240 |
| Advanced Servoks | 122 |
| Cobalt Paste | 120 |
| Particle Capacitor | 75 |
| Holtzman Actuator | 23 |
| Armor Plating | 26 |
| Complex Machinery | 10 |
Note: While crafting is the primary method, all Buggy Mk3 components can also be purchased from Kahraman Reis, a vendor in Harko Village. However, this option is generally extremely expensive and typically not worth the cost.
Individual Buggy Mk3 Component Recipes:
| Component | Water | Steel Ingot | Advanced Servoks | Cobalt Paste | Particle Capacitor | Holtzman Actuator | Armor Plating | Complex Machinery |
| Buggy Storage Mk3 | 200 | 30 | 12 | 9 | - | - | - | - |

How to Get a Free Buggy in Dune: Awakening
Like Sandbikes, players can occasionally find unclaimed Buggies scatteredacross the world. There are three confirmed locations where you can find a free "Scrappy Junk Buggy":
- Southern Comms (Eastern Shield Wall)
- Sentinel City (Eastern Shield Wall)
- Khidr’s Shadow (Jabal Eifrit Al-Janub)
Important Notes on Free Buggies:
- Most Scrappy Junk Buggies will have very low durability on almost all oftheir parts, much of which constitutes permanent damage that cannot berepaired with Welding Wire.
- These free Junk Buggies do not come with a Storage module, a Cutteray, or a Utility Rear pre-installed. This means you will still need to research, craft, andattach these essential modules to the Buggy to effectively use it formining and hauling.
- Fortunately, these Junk Buggies periodically respawn in the same locations, providing an infinite supply of base chassis if you're willing to repeatedly travel to these spots.
Can Solo Players Use a Buggy to Mine in Dune: Awakening?
Yes, solo players can absolutely use a Buggy for mining operations.
- Mining Mechanism: In Dune: Awakening, you can only mine with the Buggy by sitting in the turret seat.
- Solo Operation: For solo players, this means you will need to switch between the driver’s seat to drive and the turret seat to mine. This is achievable by selecting and holding the Interactions key (F) and choosing the appropriate seat from the radial menu.
- Efficiency: While it's not as fast as having two players (one driving, one manningthe turret), it is definitely a viable and highly effective method forsolo resource gathering.
Note: A Buggy Cutteray Mk3 cannot mine Aluminum; you’ll need to research an Mk4 Cutteray for that.
Is the Buggy Worth Using in Dune: Awakening?
Absolutely! The Buggy's primary value lies in its unparalleled ability to store and mine an absurd amount of ore in its inventory. It is truly a supplyrunner’s best friend.
- Massive Storage: With a whopping 1500v storage capacity (Mk3 version), players can use it to efficiently gather heavy ores like Iron and Aluminum without having to constantly return to their base tooffload materials.
- Efficient Harvesting: The Buggy's Cutteray can harvest ores and metal significantly moreefficiently than the standard handheld Cutteray. Although the Buggyitself is slow, you will quickly accumulate thousands of pounds ofmaterials in its inventory within minutes of mining, a feat impossibleto achieve by any other means.
- Vehicle Synergy: Dune: Awakening vehicles each serve a distinct purpose:
- The Sandbike is for quick land traversal.
- The Ornithopter is for aerial traversal.
- The Buggy is specifically for mining resources and transporting large quantities of items back to base.Well-rounded players will ideally have all three in their garage.
- Avoid Skipping: While it's technically possible to skip the Buggy and go straight for the Ornithopter, it is not recommended. Once you begin needing Aluminum-tier items, the demand for basicmaterials skyrockets. Attempting to satisfy these requirements withoutthe Buggy will make supply runs incredibly time-consuming andinefficient.
