How to Solve Osten Laithe Mystery in Proces-Verbal Quest in Dune Awakening

Starting the Quest and Meeting the Chief Investigator

The Proces-Verbal quest is one of the first major story missions introduced in Chapter 2 of Dune: Awakening, as part of the Lost Harvest DLC. After logging into the game post-update, players will encounter Zantara’s pet bat. This brief interaction triggers a call from Elara Tuek, who invites you to meet her at Harko Village. Accepting this invitation begins the Chapter 2 storyline. Upon arriving at Harko Village and speaking with Elara, players will witness a cutscene featuring Count Fenring. He sets the stage for a murder investigation in Arakeen, where a killer is reportedly on the loose. This leads directly into the Proces-Verbal quest, which tasks players with meeting Chief Investigator Sub-Prefect Tors in Arakeen. Once you reach Arakeen and speak with Sub-Prefect Tors, he’ll ask for your help in investigating the death of Osten Laithe, an engineer found dead in the upper section of the Salusan Bull bar. Agreeing to assist him officially begins the quest.

Finding Osten Laithe and Accessing the Private Room

Travel to the Upper Salusan Bull bar in Arakeen. After climbing thestaircase, locate Ugo Firenze, who stands near the top. He controlsaccess to the private rooms. If the dialogue option to discuss theprivate room doesn’t appear, first speak with the Drunken AtreidesOfficer in the center of the room. He’ll mention the private room during conversation, unlocking the necessary dialogue path with Ugo.

Once you speak to Ugo and mention that Sub-Prefect Tors sent you,he’ll confirm that Osten Laithe was found dead in the private room.Though hesitant, he’ll grant you access to the locked area so you canbegin your investigation.

Investigating the Scene of the Crime

Inside the private room, you’ll find Osten Laithe’s body slumped on a sofa and a recorder on the table to the right. Begin by interactingwith the recorder to hear a message that may provide context. Thenexamine Osten’s body thoroughly, focusing on the mouth, hands, and torso to determine the cause of death.

In addition to the body, investigate the following items scattered around the room:

• A book placed on the table in front of the body
• A food pot next to the book
• A wine carafe on the opposite table
• A main table covered with scrolls and notes

Each item may contain clues or evidence that point toward foul play.Once you’ve examined everything, exit the room to continue theinvestigation.

Speaking with Witnesses and Gathering Testimony

Outside the private room, you’ll find Hester Klimt standing near thebalcony. Speak with her about Osten’s death. She’ll dismiss the idea offoul play, which prompts the next phase of the quest: gathering medicalevidence to support your suspicions.

Acquiring the Poison Snooper and Analyzing Evidence

To confirm foul play, you’ll need a medical tool called the PoisonSnooper. Follow the quest marker to meet Dr. Shaffat in Arakeen. She’sthe NPC responsible for character customization and medical advice.Inform her of the situation, and she’ll recommend purchasing the PoisonSnooper from vendors near the city entrance.

Buy the tool for 100 Solari, then return to the private room. Use the Poison Snooper to scan the following:

• Osten Laithe’s mouth and hands
• The book in front of the body

These scans will reveal traces of toxins, confirming that Osten’sdeath was not accidental. With this evidence in hand, you’re ready toconfront the witnesses again.

Interrogating Witnesses in the Salusan Bull

Return to the Upper Salusan Bull and speak to all key witnesses to complete the interrogation phase:

• Hester Klimt – Still near the balcony outside the private room
• Ugo Firenze – Near the stairway at the entrance to the upper section
• Ambrose Lucifera – Standing to the left of the bar, in front of a fish engraving
• Alastair Christian Chim (Barkeep) – Behind the bar counter

Present your findings and gather their reactions. These conversations will help you piece together the motive, timeline, and potentialsuspects involved in the murder.

Reporting Your Findings and Unlocking the Next Quest

Once all interrogations are complete, return to Sub-Prefect Tors inArakeen to report your findings. He’ll review the evidence andacknowledge your role in uncovering the truth behind Osten Laithe’sdeath. Completing this step concludes the Proces-Verbal quest and unlocks the next mission in Chapter 2: A Touch of Evil.

• Always exhaust all dialogue options with NPCs to unlock hidden clues
• Use the Poison Snooper on every highlighted item, not just the body
• Keep extra Solari on hand for tools and travel expenses
• If a quest marker doesn’t appear, revisit earlier steps or restart the game
• Pay attention to environmental details—some clues are subtle and easy to miss
