How to Unlock and Build Windtraps
Before constructing a Windtrap, you must first research its blueprint using Intel—a key resource obtained through exploration and missions. Once unlocked, gather the following materials to craft one:
- Steel Ingot ×90 (made from Iron Ingots, Carbon Ore, and Water)
- Silicone Block ×30 (crafted from Flour Sand and Water)
- Calibrated Servok ×20 (found in Khidr’s Shadow or CHOAM Mineral Extraction Facilities)
After collecting the required components, use the Construction Tool to place the Windtrap under the Utilities tab.
Where to Find Crafting Materials
- Iron Ore: Abundant in the Vermillius Gap
- Carbon Ore: Located in Jabal Eifrit Al-Janub
- Flour Sand: Mined from deposits and processed with a Compactor
- Calibrated Servoks: Looted from high-risk zones like Khidr’s Shadow or CHOAM facilities
How Windtraps Work
Windtraps must be placed outdoors within your Sub-Fief Console’s range to function. If built indoors, they won’t produce water. To keep them running, you must install Filters, which determine how long they operate before needing replacement:
- Makeshift Filter: Lasts 3 hours
- Standard Filter: Lasts 8 hours
Filters are crafted at the Survival Fabricator, another research-locked structure requiring Intel.
Water Production Rates & Storage
- Production Speed: 0.75 ml per second (45 ml/min, 2,700 ml/hour, 64,800 ml/day)
- Internal Storage: 500 ml (fills in ~11 minutes)
Since Windtraps connect to your Water Circuit, excess water automatically transfers to nearby Cisterns, Deathstills, or other storage units within your base. This ensures continuous collection without manual intervention.

Advantages of Windtraps
