The first large obstacle you will come across is the wolf-like creature Lingxuzzi. With its pure white fur, Lingxuzi seemingly appears to be gentle. It does, however, not look like a good guy at all. It's your very first proper boss battle, so you're supposed to go into this fight better prepared.

Lingxuzi has fast, heavy attacks; its dash is closer to a rush to attack. Knowing its moveset is crucial for survival. Look out for the lunges and especially the long jump distances. It can use trickery to lure you into a trap.

Preparation

From this shrine, gear up for the battle against Lingxuzi guardian of Wolf Forest in the abandoned Guanyin Temple. Forge new armor to increase your speed and attack when sprinting; for example, the Pilgrim set will have very high power. This set will give you amazing combat advantages by rapidly closing the space between you and the enemy and producing lethal blows.

Apart from the Pilgrim set, make other armor that will complement your playing style best. Some armor sets grant extra defense, resistances to elements, or even unique abilities. Feel free to experiment with different combinations of gear that will take you through your journey.

Another very important thing for this journey is the Evil Repelling Medicament. This is a consumable that raises your defense for a rather short duration. Immobilize Spell: Immobilize is also a great spell for opening attacks or just to get you out of danger. You should be able to cast this skill a few times during the battle without the upgrade of mana.
Timing Your Attacks: The best time to attack Lingxuzi will be whenever he licks his paw. This little window, lasting around 1-2 seconds, gives you the opportunity to hit him without hassles.

Rewards and Exploration:

You will receive the following Drops if you are victorious: Will x699, Stone Spirit, Grey Wolf Mask, and Mind Core Material.
Gray Wolf Mask: This will give Damage Bonus when in low health, so it's very precious in battle.
Mind Core Material: It is a rare material used for making Celestial Medicine. Having cores in Mind Core can be extremely useful.

When Lingxuzi is defeated, explore the abandoned temple. There are two more treasure chests waiting to be claimed.
