In Titan Quest 2, the "Cages in the Dark" quest in the Flooded Farmlands near the Prygos Outskirts presents a perplexing brazier puzzle. Players are led to a cave with a mysterious locked door and a cryptic clue. While it might seem like you need to manipulate the three braziers right next to the door, the solution is more spread out.Here’s a step-by-step guide to solving the brazier puzzle and completing the quest.

The Brazier Puzzle Solution in Titan Quest 2

The locked door in the cave gives you a clue: "You imagine yourself lighting a lone brazier. Then a pair of Braziers. Then a trio. Then the thoughts fade."

This clue is easily misinterpreted. Most players naturally assumethey need to light the three braziers next to the door in a specificsequence. However, the puzzle requires you to light a series of braziers located in different parts of the cave. The clue refers to threeseparate areas, each containing one, two, and three braziers,respectively.

To solve the puzzle and open the mysterious door,you must light the braziers in the correct order, following the patternof the clue.

  • Light the Lone Brazier: First, find the single brazier. It is located in the northern section of the cave. Go to this area and light the brazier.
  • Light the Pair of Braziers: Next, head to the eastern side of the cave. Here, you'll find a pair of braziers. Light both of them.
  • Light the Trio: Finally, return to the three braziers located next to the mysterious locked door and light all three.

    • Once you have lit the braziers in the correct order (one, then two, then three), the mysterious door will automatically open.

    Completing the "Cages in the Dark" Quest

    Inside the room, you will find a prisoner. He will refuse to leave, so youmust let him be. The room also contains some random loot. After you have collected the items, you can leave the room. Be careful not to closethe door with your character still inside, as this could potentiallytrap you and force you to use a portal to escape.

    To officially complete the quest:

  • Return to Pyrgos Outskirts: Go back to the Pyrgos Outskirts waypoint.
  • Find Timandra: Head west from the waypoint and you'll see a small town area. Find and speak to an NPC named Timandra.

    • Interestingly, you will notice that the rewards for the quest are already receivedupon opening the mysterious door, even before you speak to Timandra.Opening the door grants you 2,440 experience points and 10 Embers of Night.
