Celebrating a Sim's Birthday (Without Cheats)

While birthday cakes are essential for aging up in The Sims 2, they don't work automatically. The "Blow Out Candles" option only appears if the Sim is within 24 hours of their in-game birthday.

Check Birthday Proximity: If the "Blow Out Candles" option isn't available, your Sim isn't close enough to their birthday.

Purchase a Birthday Cake: Buy a birthday cake from Build/Buy Mode. It's located in the Party section of the Miscellaneous tab.

Place the Cake: Place the cake on a table.

Select the Birthday Sim: Switch control to the Sim who is about to have a birthday.

Interact with the Cake: Click on the cake.

Blow Out Candles: Select the "Blow Out Candles" interaction. This will trigger the birthday sequence and age up your Sim.

Aging Up with CheatsIf you don't want to wait for the Sim's natural birthday, you can use cheats.

Method 1: Setting a Sim's Birthday

Open Cheat Console: Open the cheat console (usually by pressing Ctrl + Shift + C).

Enable Testing Cheats: Type boolprop testingcheatsenabled true and press Enter.

Shift-Click Sim: Shift-click on the Sim you want to age up.

Set to Birthday: Select the "Set to Birthday" option. This will make it so the Sim is within 24 hours of their birthday, allowing them to age up via the cake methoddescribed above.

Method 2: Instant Age Change

Open Cheat Console: Open the cheat console.

Enable Agesimscheat: Type agesimscheat on and press Enter.

Click Sim: Click on the Sim you want to age up.

Set Age: Select the "Set Age" option. This allows you to directly choose the Sim's new life stage.
