How To Craft Polymers in The Alters

In The Alters, resource management and crafting are vital for expanding your base, developing technology, and ensuring survival. One essential material you'll encounter is Polymers, which are crucial for constructing bridge anchors—a necessary item for story progression after a certain roadblock. This guide will clarify the steps required to craft Polymers.

Crafting Polymers in The Alters

To craft Polymers, you'll follow a three-step process: gathering raw materials, building a specific refining module, and then initiating the crafting process. Polymers are a basic requirement for crafting Bridge Anchors, which are in turn needed to advance your base.

Step 1: Collect Minerals and Organics

At the point in the game where Polymers become necessary, you should already have access to both Mineral and Organic deposits. You can place mining rigs on these deposits to automate their extraction.

• Caution: When exploring the mineral deposit areas, be mindful that there are often numerous hostile anomalies present, so proceed with care.

Step 2: Build a Refinery

Once you've amassed a sufficient quantity of Minerals and Organics, your next step is to construct a Refinery module in your base. This module is essential for combining these raw materials into Polymers.

• The Refinery module costs 40 Metals to build.

Step 3: Craft Polymers

With your raw materials gathered and the Refinery in place, you can now begin crafting Polymers.

• Simply head over to the Refinery module in your base.
• Add a few packages of Polymers to the queue and either start working on them yourself as Jan or assign one of your Alters to operate the Refinery.
• Each package of Polymers requires two hours of refinement time, so it will take a while to accumulate the amount you need.

Polymers Recipe in The Alters

Here is a summary of the crafting recipe for one package of Polymers:

Once you have crafted enough Polymers, you can proceed to create Bridge Anchors. For each Bridge Anchor, you will need 20 Metals and 20 Polymers. This means you'll need to craft eight packages of Polymers in total to create enough Bridge Anchors to move your base forward in the story. Thankfully, once the Refinery is operational and your mining rigs areproducing, it largely becomes a matter of waiting for resources toaccumulate and for the crafting process to complete.
