Not all Stardew Valley players subsist from the earth through farming and rearing of livestock. Being one of the various tools at a player's disposal for crafting, artisanal goods are rarely given honey.
However, beekeeping in Stardew Valley is quite easy and returns high within no time. A player can simply build a few beehives and place them outside; however, if the player really wants to scale it up and become an empire with honey, they can upscale their effort.
The bees in Stardew Valley are just like the ones in the actual world: they make honey. To farm honey, players will need to keep the busy bees in a Bee House. You can unlock the crafting recipe for the Bee House upon reaching the third level of farming. Once that is achieved, you can construct a single Bee House using the following items:
The Bee House can also be obtained after completion of the Fall Crops Bundle in the Community Center or through using the Prize Counter from the mayor. Once the crafting is done, you will have an ability to put it outdoors anywhere: in the woods, at your farm, or even at the quarry. Wherever it's placed, during every three to four in-season days - the device doesn't produce in winter - honey will be produced inside the Bee House. The ones on Ginger Island will be able to be harvested at any time of the year. If it is ready for a harvest, a Bee House can be relocated by hitting it with an axe or pickaxe. If there is honey available, it will fall and reflect the honey-type of nearby flowers, if applicable.
Greenhouse is also an ok place to keep beehives; however it would not generate any honey.
Wild Honey, which is normally worth 100g, or 140g if you have the Artisan profession, is produced if there are no flowers within a five tile radius of the beehive. However, if you plant flowers in the nearby vicinity, then the honey changes variety and greatly increases in value. This includes flowers grown in a planter box.
As an Artisan Good, honey is impacted by the Artisan profession. If chosen when a player reaches Farming Level 10 this profession increases the value of all Artisan Goods by 40%. Standard and increased pricing are below :
In getting a particular flower's honey, the flower must not be picked before one takes the honey from the Bee House; else, it will default to Wild Honey. So, also if a player has gotten honey from the Bee House, he may wait for some time until the nearby flowers have bloomed to get that type of flower honey.
Place beehives near any wildflower seeds, such as the seeds to plant sweet peas or daffodils, and it will yield wild honey.
Of course, players can sell the higher valued Honey types on their own, but other uses can be made, either crafting other items or using it as gifts with the Wild Honey or cheaper varieties.
Honey, once gathered, can be made into mead by adding it to a keg. Mead is, at its most basic, an Artisan profession goodie that sells for 200g. It can be aged in a Cask to increase its quality, and thereby its value, as follows:
Note that the type of Honey used to manufacture Mead has no impact on the quality or sell price of the product; so, using Wild Honey (the cheapest variety) to make Mead leads to the maximum profit.
Although no Cooking recipes require Honey, the ingredient can be combined with 1 Hardwood and 20 Fiber to craft a Warp Totem: Farm when players have reached Farming Level 8. This item may be used at any time and from any location to instantly warp back to the farmhouse.
Honey is one of the items requested by players at the Pantry in the Community Center to complete the Artisan Bundle, and may be requested in several Fish Pond quests.
Like many artisan goods, honey is a great choice to win the friendship of other villagers. Honey is one of the Liked gifts for every villager except Maru and Sebastian. Since it's so readily available, Wild Honey is a great item to always have in stock when courting friends-or possible romantic interests.
Mead, honey's alcoholic child, is an all-around good gift and something Pam and Willy will especially appreciate. Most villagers seem to enjoy a good mead, but avoid giving it to Penny, Sebastian, or obviously any of the kids.
