In the vast, haunting world of Hollow Knight: Silksong, Crests are powerful artifacts that fundamentally reshape Hornet's capabilities. These unique charms can alter her damage output, attack speed, and mobility, allowing for deep customization of your playstyle. While some crests excel in brutal combat, others provide crucial advantages for traversing the game's most perilous platforming challenges. Among these, the Architect Crest stands out as a uniquely versatile and game-changing tool acquired in the mid-game. This guide will provide a complete walkthrough on how to locate the Architect Key, gain access to the secret chapel, and harness the crest's extraordinary power.

(H2) Step 1: Locating the Crucial Architect Key

Your journey to obtain the Architect Crest begins not with the crest itself, but with the key that guards it. To start this quest, you must have progressed into Act 2 of Silksong and reached the Coral Chambers area.
The critical item you need is the White Key. This key is found in a region known as the Songclave, located in the upper right quadrant of the imposing Citadel. Once you have secured the White Key, your next destination is the eastern section of the Underworks. Use the key to activate an elevator that descends into the depths of Whiteward, providing access to this new zone.
As you explore the eastern Underworks, you will eventually hear a mysterious NPC speaking near a bench. This is your target, but reaching them immediately is impossible without a specific movement ability. To proceed, descend downward through the area until you reach a treacherous lava-filled section. A demanding platforming sequence awaits here, leading to the central chamber of the Eastern Underworks where you will discover the Clawline ability, a vital movement upgrade for Hornet.
Armed with this new skill, return to the bench. Above it, you will now find grapple points that were previously out of reach. Use your harpoon to swing across and finally enter the room of the NPC, who is revealed to be the Twelfth Architect.
This merchant sells various useful tools and, most importantly, the Architect Key for 110 Rosaries. Be warned: the Twelfth Architect will only part with the key if you have collected a sufficient number of tools already. The game will display how many you are missing if you do not meet the requirement.

(H2) Step 2: Gaining Entry to the Hidden Chapel

With the Architect Key now in your inventory, the path to the crest is open. Exit the Twelfth Architect's room to the right, where you will find alever. Striking it will open a new path.

Continue upward and then to the left to locate a second lever. This mechanismgrants access to a platform directly above the merchant's chamber. Fromhere, a well-timed jump and dash to the left will reveal a third andfinal lever. Pull it to open a passage that leads to a majestic, lockedgate emblazoned with the distinct symbol of the Architects.

This is the entrance to the Chapel of the Architect. Use your key to unlock the gate and step inside. Unlike other chapelsfilled with deadly guardians and boss encounters, this sanctuary ispeaceful and devoid of enemies. Your prize sits unguarded; simplyapproach the altar and claim the Architect Crest, which will automatically bind itself to Hornet.
