As it turns out, the killer in Dead of Night follows a very specific pattern, which makes the case very simple to solve if you're familiar with the signs. Every time, it's a paid killer. You will learn the basics of murder investigation from this case. Within six hours, they will claim their next victim unless you intervene and solve this case.

Doubt Cast in Shadows The Dead of Night is a crime scene investigation tutorial. For any murder investigation, keep in mind the following steps:

  • Use the fingerprint scanner on fingerprints that have been picked up by the UV light. This will also work for footprints. Find the size of any footprints by scanning them. You should primarily inspect the front door, the countertops, and the safe. Interacting with the victim's hands allows you to obtain their fingerprints without the need for a scanner.

  • Find a restaurant receipt from a few hours ago by searching the trash can; this individual was probably the last to see them alive.

Location of the weapon dealer's note: Find a note describing the weapons dealer on the black market by searching the kitchen, bedroom, and living room. The murder weapon can be guessed from this hint. Remember to save this hint so you can easily retrieve the password.

The victim and the killer can be profiled using the little information provided. Stop by City Hall and use the Government Database to fill out these profiles. To finish their profile, enter the victim's name. The killer's name can be entered from the Address Book for this particular instance. Without digging any further, you can connect the suspect's fingerprints, blood type, and face to the crime scene.

Keep in mind that not every case will lend itself to this approach; in some cases, the only evidence found at the scene of the crime is a fingerprint.

Peril of the Night



The leads you gather from your investigation will put you in a better position to track down the murderer. Do not forget to affix each of these hints on your board. You won't lose track of them because they are easily accessible. You are required to visit one of these leads prior visiting the others. We advise you to visit no more than three of the four locations to be absolutely certain of the killer's identity, since it's quite unlikely that you will have the time to investigate all four. Weapons Dealer:


  • Task: Find and enter the black market weapons dealer using the provided password.
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Outcome: Discover the murder weapon.

Phone Call:


  • Task: Visit the address of the person who last called the victim (found in their address book).
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Outcome: Determine that the killer lives at this address.

Workplace, diner, weapons dealer, and phone call are the recommended sequence in which to complete leads if you wish to fully immerse yourself in this case. Black Markets aren't shown on the map until you've been to the business previously, thus investigating the weapons dealer is the hardest part. Building basements, on the other hand, are great places to start.

What to look for in a killer in The Dead of Night


Investigating the phone call is the simplest approach to identifying the murderer. Even in our many iterations of solving the Dead of Night case, the murderer always waited until the very end to contact the victim. Assuming you already know this, solving the case will be a breeze; nevertheless, you will be missing some necessary items to finish the Case Resolution Form's optional objectives. You would have been better off collecting simply the killer's name and address from the scene of the crime.


You can plot your way to the suspect's flat using the Detective Notebook. To accomplish this, you have two options: either utilize the drop-pin symbol in your Notebook to input the first line of their address, or pin their address when you found it. Then, you may use it to plan your route. A suspect is constantly in the picture.


Instead of knocking on the door, the murderer will attempt to open fire if you intrude on the apartment. In your search for the murder weapon, you can employ this strategy. Get out of there as soon as the Pursuised icon goes away. Go back to the flat, but this time when the murderer approaches, smash down the door (you'll see the barge button on your screen when you're running toward the door). Use your handcuffs to apprehend the assailant. Lastly, in order to finish all of the optional objectives for the Case Resolution Form, you must search the killer for the murder weapon. Once you receive your results, you can submit the case to the City Hall for archiving.

In Dead of Night, who is the murderer?


Violet Diaz in Charlotte Heights will remain the killer until you create a new city. If you break into the house of the main suspect, find the victim's phone and address book, and capture the murderer, you should be able to quickly find and fulfill all five objectives.
