If players are looking for a helpful guide on how to obtain one of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered's most chaotic and entertaining artifacts, they’ve come to the right place. The Wabbajack, a legendary Daedric staff gifted by the Prince of Madness, Sheogorath, can be acquired without even starting the Shivering Isles DLC. This guide will walk players through every step of the process, from locating Sheogorath’s shrine to completing the bizarre prophecies required to earn this unpredictable weapon.

Where to Find Sheogorath’s Shrine in Oblivion Remastered

Before players can embark on the quest for the Wabbajack, they must first locate Sheogorath’s Shrine.

Shrine Location:

  • Northwest of Leyawiin, along the road leading to Bravil.
  • The shrine is easily identifiable by its eerie, twisted appearance, fitting for the Daedric Prince of Madness.

Quest Requirements:

  • Players must be at least Level 2 to begin the quest.
  • Upon arriving, they will meet Ferul Ravel, a devoted follower of Sheogorath, who will instruct them to gather three ritual items to summon the Daedric Prince.

How to Obtain the Ritual Items

To summon Sheogorath, players must collect the following bizarre offerings:
ItemLocation
Head of LettucePurchased from Delos Fandas at The Feed Bag in the Market District (Imperial City).
Lesser Soul GemPurchased from Calindil at Mystic Emporium in the Market District (Imperial City).
YarnFound inside crates and barrels scattered throughout the Market District.

Once all three items are acquired, return to Sheogorath’s Shrine and place them on the altar. This will summon Sheogorath, who will then task the player with causing utter chaos in the nearby settlement of Border Watch.

Starting the Prophecies of Madness

Sheogorath demands that players fulfill three prophecies to prove their dedication to madness. Each prophecy involves a different act of absurd destruction in Border Watch, a small village just south of the shrine.

Prophecy 1: The Rat Plague

Objective: Start a rat infestation by poisoning the town’s food supply.

  • Head to the Border Watch Inn (the largest building in the village).
  • Locate the display case near the entrance—it contains Olroy Cheese.
  • Obtain the Cheese using one of the following methods:

    • Lockpick the display case (use the wooden pillar for cover to avoid detection).
    • Pickpocket the innkeeper (steal the key while she sleeps at night).
    • Kill the innkeeper (risky, as it may alert guards).
  • Take the Olroy Cheese to the cooking pot in the center of town and place it inside.
  • Wait briefly—giant rats will swarm the area.

  • After the rats appear, Ri’Bassa (a villager) will begin placing Rat Poison around town. Follow him and pick up the poison he drops—this will be needed for the next prophecy.

    Prophecy 2: Poisoning the Sheep

Objective: Use the Rat Poison to kill the village’s sheep.

  • Head to the sheep pen near the inn.
  • Locate the feeding trough in the center.
  • Place the Rat Poison inside the trough.
  • Watch as the sheep eat the poison and die in a comically exaggerated manner.
  • Prophecy 3: The Rain of Burning Dogs

Objective: Witness the final act of madness—dogs falling from the sky.

  • Return to the center of Border Watch.
  • Look up at the sky—this triggers a cutscene.
  • The sky will turn blood-red, and flaming dogs will rain down upon the village.
  • With all three prophecies fulfilled, the town will be in complete disarray—exactly as Sheogorath desired.

    Claiming the Wabbajack

After completing the prophecies, return to Sheogorath’s Shrine. The Daedric Prince will congratulate the player on their dedication to chaos and reward them with the legendary Wabbajack.

    What Does the Wabbajack Do?

    • Random Transformation Effect: When used on non-NPC enemies, the Wabbajack will turn them into random creatures for 10 seconds.
    • Unpredictable & Hilarious: While not the most reliable weapon for combat, it’s one of the most entertaining items in the game.
    • Pure Chaos: Perfect for players who enjoy absurd, unpredictable gameplay.

    Final Tips & Tricks

    • Save Before Using the Wabbajack: Its effects are random—sometimes it backfires!
    • Great for Pranks: Use it on guards, wildlife, or even fellow NPCs (if mods allow).
    • Don’t Sell It!: The Wabbajack is a unique artifact—once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Now that players have the Wabbajack, they can unleash madness across Cyrodiil. Whether turning bandits intosweetrolls or watching enemies morph into chickens, this staffguarantees endless fun.
