At the first Town Star Level in MySims, players are granted a quarry and a detector, enabling them to prospect for various resources. Players need a solid grasp of the mechanic to prospect in MySims, and getting a handle on it early on can be challenging.
This article teaches players the ins and outs of prospecting in MySims, allowing them to unearth a plethora of treasure chests and gather essence for use in the Workshop.
The player's character will retrieve a detector once they have chosen the "prospect" option. The player's proximity to a treasure box in MySims determines the color of the detector's glow.
It will only beep every so often and light up blue when the gamer is far away from their objective. While still analyzing its color, players are required to roam around. The hue will appear warmer as players draw nearer to their aim. It starts out blue and then goes through green, yellow, orange, and red.
If the player is standing on top of the detector, it will continuously beep and produce red waves, and when it lights up red, it means they are very close. The "dig" button will then show up, letting gamers open the treasure chest that contains the essence they want.

You have to go out and prospect for certain resources in MySims. In MySims, players must locate a suitable prospecting location before they can begin prospecting. Prospecting in-game entails going up to ore deposits. When they're close enough, a menu option to "prospect" will show up; clicking on it will cause the player's character to grab the detector.
Aside from the Geeky Cave, the only other place for players to go prospecting in MySims will be the region between the southern garden and the train station.
