Phase 1: Unlocking the Activation Tool

The Scout Bots are inert when first encountered and require a specific energy weapon to be brought online.

The Thunder Shot Prerequisite

• Initial Status: When Samus first encounters a Scout Bot, it remains deactivated and unresponsive.
• The Key Upgrade: To activate these units, you must first unlock the Thunder Shot weapon upgrade. This electrical energy beam is the necessary catalyst to shock the dormant circuitry back to life.
• Acquisition Path: The Thunder Shot is an advanced upgrade that typically becomes available only during your third major visit to the Volt Forge region. Its acquisition is locked until you have already secured another critical mobility tool: the Psychic Grapple.
• Grapple Requirement: The Psychic Grapple upgrade is earned by defeating the final boss of the Flare Pool region (the fire stage), which is an essential prerequisite for accessing the Thunder Shot sequence.

Each of the six major regions on Viewros hosts one Scout Bot, which willonly map out the items within its own respective dungeon.

Scout Bot 1	Fury Green	Found in the Ancient Path chamber. This bot is impossible to miss and is encountered automatically during your initial passage through the level's progression.
Scout Bot 2	Volt Forge	Located on a small side platform. Look for the Morph Ball path that leads out toward the second powergenerator; the platform extends off to the side right near this path.
Scout Bot 3	Ice Belt	Situated directly in the Snowfield section, positioned right in front of a visible junk pile.
Scout Bot 4	Flare Pool	Requires a brief bit of traversal after crossing the central lava flow beneath the Lava Lake Bridge. Cross the small side channel and check the area near the rock wall on the other side.
Scout Bot 5	Great Mines	Located on Level 3, shortly after the separation sequence involving Samus andVUE-995. You will enter a large corner room called Main Shaft – Level 3. After opening the massive door and facing the Maul Griever cocoon, turn immediately left; the Scout Bot is waiting in that corner.
Scout Bot 6	Sol Valley	Start just outside the Volt Forge entrance. Head north, keeping along the western edge of the Sol Valley. Look for the purple glow indicating Psychic Platforms; these lead to a small, isolated "island" where the Scout Bot is positioned near the edge.

Phase 3: The Two-Step Activation Process

Finding the deactivated robot is only the first step. You must perform atwo-part sequence using two separate Beam weapons to fully activate theunit.

Step 1: Powering Up (Thunder Shot)

• Target the Bot: Once you are face-to-face with a Scout Bot, target the inert machine.
• Fire the Beam: Shoot the robot a single time with the powerful Thunder Shot beam.
• Result: This electric shock provides the necessary burst of energy,successfully powering up the bot and preparing it for the next phase.

Step 2: Surveying the Level (Psychic Visor)

Switch Visors: Immediately switch your focus to the Psychic Visor.

Scan the Machine: Initiate a scan of the now-active Scout Bot.

Result: Scanning triggers a brief cutscene, where the Scout Bot surveys theentire environment, gathering data on all hidden locations within thatspecific dungeon.

After the scan is complete, the Scout Bot will power down and fall silent.

Mapping the Loot

Following a successful activation, the regional map will immediately update. From that point forward, a distinct small orange cross icon will be visible on the map screen, precisely marking the location of every collectible item you have yet to discover.

This reveal applies specifically to essential upgrade items, including:

• Energy Tanks (increasing maximum health)
• Missile Expansions (increasing missile capacity)
• Shot Expansions (increasing auxiliary weapon capacity)
