Complete the Fury Green and Volt Forge dungeons. These are the game's first major areas.

Acquire the Fire Chip. After Volt Forge, travel to the Flare Pool in the southeast corner of Sol Valley. Securing the Fire Chip allows you to unlock the Fire Shot back at the Fury Green base camp. This step is mandatory, as the Fire Shot is often needed to progress through the upcoming icy challenges.

Step 1: Locating the Ice Chip in the Ice Belt Dungeon

With the Fire Shot in hand, your next destination is the Ice Belt, the game's third major dungeon located in the northwest of Sol Valley.

• Enter the Ice Belt via the tram and proceed until you enter a vast, multi-level chamber. Your target is immediately visible: a hanging pod emitting a distinct blue light—this is the Ice Chip.
• Initial Frustration: You cannot collect it yet. This chamber is a preview. You must first prove your worth by conquering the dungeon itself.
• Conquer the Dungeon: Fight through the Ice Belt's hostile environments, survive ambushes like the Snow Wolves, and ultimately defeat the area boss, Keratos. Your reward for this victory is the Boost Ball upgrade, a pivotal movement ability.

Step 2: Retrieving the Ice Chip with the Boost Ball

Now equipped with the Boost Ball, return to the large chamber with thehanging pod. The retrieval process is a classic Metroid puzzle:
